How do Ads have an impact on the final conversion rate?

Hey Warriors,
I got into CPA one week ago and already spent ~$300-$400 with a 14 conversions (ROI is negative). I first thought that only the landing page is responsible for the conversion rate of the offer and the ad is responsible for getting traffic (CPM). I finally tried to test some different ads and found some good ones with a good CTR that actually converts. My question is though: How does the ad influence the visitor? I always thought that the landing page is the page that talks to the visitor and shows the benefit of signing up.

By the way,
On Monday I had my first positive ROI day (20.94%) with 11 conversions. Then one day after that I had only two conversions (Was really strange). Today the conversions aren't good as I expected as well. I'll collect some more data until next Monday though to see whether the days have an impact as well.
I spent daily like $50.

Thanks in advance for the replies

If you're paying/bidding with CPM then your ad will have a huge impact of the profitability of your campaigns, what CTR are you currently getting?

The other thing to consider is your ad must not only yield a good CTR, but must also represent what you're selling on the other end (or else people will just bail after clicking on the ad)

How long have you been running the campaign? Do you have a full weeks worth of data yet?

My avg CTR of my ads yesterday was 0.28% and I haven't run my campaign for a week yet. I'll let the campaign run until Sunday (daily $50) so I can get some good data. It's been running now for about three days. On the first day I was in 20% positive ROI but since the second day I'm in negative ROI again

One very generalized way to look at it is; the ad gets the visitors attention, and the landing page educates them on the offer.

Also many times and CPA offer will convert better for the bat, this more common for CPL offers since the advertiser probably want to see your lead quality, that is just my theory.

Transition from AD Copy --> Landing Page --> Offer should be smooth. User should be able to join dots easily.

But, this differs depending on traffic source!
