Pay Per Lead Question

I have only promoted pay per sale type deals (clickbank, amazon, etc)

I am seeing affiliate programs offering $35 as a pay per lead offer.

I send customers to these sites, the customer opts-in and signs up for FREE, I get $35?

Seems too easy, whats the catch here?

Does the customer not have to pay anything for me to get the $35? What if I sent 100 people to opt-in and they never bought anything? I still get $35 per opt-in?

I know im missing something. I cant see someone paying $35 to me for an email list.

there is no catch, these are advertisers who already know
their metrics, and know how much they can afford to pay
per lead, and how many leads it takes them to get a sale,
and how much is a customer worth to them.

Since its not google adsense and they probably dont monitor as much.

Whats too stop someone from simply asking their customers to "opt-in but dont buy".

As long as you get paid per lead, it might be worth it.
Some of them do commission shaving to buffer any
        manipulation.

Theoretically it sounds so easy. If so, then logically why is everybody not promoting this and promoting pay per sale products?

The fact is that the more the pay per lead payout it takes much more 'action' on the part of prospects, typically in the form of furnishing more personal information including address, phone numbers etc etc which they might not be comfortable doing so online. This is the reason why the companies are paying offering more for the leads, otherwise why would they?

This of course doesn't mean that this does not work. It does take some time to master this though.

    Cheers

It all depends on what qualifies it as a "lead". Some leads can be as much as a 3 page submit, so be sure to see what info is required. $35 for just an email seems a little far fetched or it seems like people would just create unlimited emails and submit them to these. Usually there is more info from the lead that is required.

If your "free" leads don`t convert into sales for advertiser, after some time he/she won`t allow you to promote that offer anymore because you make them negative ROI.

They will scrub the leads if they are fake and not good quality.

Still worth testing many times for high ticket ones.

There is no catch. It's harder than it looks and sounds though

This is why I love working on a per lead basis. You don't care about selling any product, but you only care how to do your job. If you find a good product to product, it can be a super profitable business for you.
