Have a site that is getting 300-400 visitors a day trying to get conversions

I have a video site that is getting around 300-400 visitors a day. I am trying to monetize it with relevant banner ads on the right. Not getting many clicks as of yet.

Wondering if I should switch to something like adwords? Don't even know if adwords is still relevant or if I should just keep banners on the site and keep increasing the traffic...

Any thoughts

No it's very targeted videos in a popular niche... using offers dating to monetize for now just not seeing many clicks on banners, so just building on traffic by adding post to it everyday.

Maybe your ads are in the wrong location?

Have you started testing various areas and increasing ads the amount of ads to increase CTR?

If you're advertising for the dating niche, try building a list! Setting up a simple 10 email series has increased sales, cpa optins, and even adsense revenue on every site I've ever tried it on. Not to mention the cool 'retained customer' value of it.

    Popups help a lot too.

If its in the dating niche, don't try adsense (I think that's what you meant by adwords). For higher CTR place your ads according to the heatmap formula by Google. Trust me it does increase CTR.

Search google images for heatmap and you'll get the idea.

If I was you I would try to use Youtube as an example, you can bet your ass they've tested it to no end. Also, adsense really sucks. Try to place ads manually that are relevant to the videos.

I would try to set up an optin form for this spot! You can build a list with it and your visitor isn't lost after he visits your site because you still can promote your offer to them with email marketing.

It won't make much money with 300-400 unique a day. Put Adsense on first and try to get more traffic at the same time.

I would focus more on gaining quality traffic, like easily double what you have. Their are plenty of different ways to accomplish this. Also like previously said try different banners, different locations. Have you considered a popup or other methods of displaying your ads?

I don't know what you have on your site, but how about writing some reviews of the products you're trying to "sell" by way of banners etc.

And also offer them a free special report that answers them a question they desperately want to know more about in exchange for their email address.

That way, you're building a list as well, and you can monetize that list. Keep giving them tips regularly in your follow-up sequence emails, and recommendations for cool resources...

Trying different types of banners and ads may help. I agree what the others have said as well about things such as different placement. You're getting the traffic so that is a great start in the right direction.

It's very simple.... Add affiliate links in your content. Have call to actions at the top, middle and bottom.

For example: I have a few amazon niche sites, if I had lot's of content and had no affiliate links in the content but on banners, my site would not convert nearly as much.

Add relevant affiliate links to the products you are promoting, people trust links much more compared to big banners, we all know that so go and do what I am telling you and you WILL thank me for it!

I don't want to get into any arguments with anyone but people telling you to change banner placements and so on, "NO", in content affiliate links are what makes the sales.

Also, images to the products convert "VERY" well!

Try it and you will see

P.S If you decide not to, let me know the site and if it has the potential from what I look for I'll buy it from you

If you can generate 300 - 400 visitors per day, you should can monetize it. This depends on video and niche which you get involved.

    Hi,

You could look at seeing if you can somehow do some SPLIT testing
where you place ads at different locations on each page.

Obviously you'll need to figure out how you can split the traffic that
goes to each page so your results are split down the middle and you
can pick a winner out of the 2, 3 ,4 variations etc.

Visual Website Optimizer allows you to do A/B split tests on pages.

Again this may not apply to you and your website but if you can figure
out in some shape or form as to how you can somehow figure out
what works best in terms of monetizing your traffic then you must
    find a way of...

...TESTING TO SEE WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.

Although 300-400 visitors a day is already a good achievement, it's unfortunately very little for advertising income.

Adsense is certainly a good way to go, but be careful not to overload your site with ads. People can click only one ad, and although Google allows 3 ads per page, one ad on a good position is actually enough.

For a good CTR, relevance of the ads is of huge importance. This you only get with much higher visitor numbers than only 300-400 per day and also being very specific and addressing your niche clearly. Google algorithms are no wizards and they need help to understand what kind of advertising is relevant for you.

Perhaps your visitors are suffering from a mild case of "banner blindness." This illness distorts their peripheral vision, until their focus is inadvertently locked onto the video in front of their eyes--and nothing else.

Is it possible to link to offers using text, as others suggested? That may help, since it seems more "natural" to many visitors to click a link than a banner.

Adsense would be a poor choice, in my opinion, being that it pays pennies, compared to CPA or affiliate offers that pay in dollars, per conversion.

iIt depends on so many things.

Traffic is just one part of the equation.

Are they people looking for solutions?

Are the banners relevant to them?

Many questions...so can't help without some information from you.

If this was 2006-2008, I'd say the adsense option. Not now.
