Is it still wise to start your online business with Adsense?

Adsense was on a boom 5-6 years ago. Market was flooded with many adsense related books and automation tools.
Be it micro niche sites, keyword tools, content writing software or SEO tools...it was a ful adsense carniv-onal few years back.

I am wondering whats the situation now a days. I used to work in adsense but discontinued it for few years due to some personal reasons. Now I want to get back into online world.

Just looking advise from my fellow warriors if it's still a good option to get my hands dirty in adsense? Do you suggest some other mean of online earning - Affiliate Marketing or something else in case there is no more room for adsense?

Kindly share your views. TIA.

Are you asking whether it's a good idea to create products around Adsense (keyword tools, etc.) or whether it's a good idea to make sites where Adsense is used to monetize? If it's the latter, the question is: do you have tonnes of free or low-cost traffic coming to your site, and is it in a niche with many competing advertisers? Without those two things, Adsense is worthless. With those two things Adsense is the most effective ad network to use, but you should test it against affiliate offers to see which your traffic responds best to.

My question was for a newbie, who is just starting his online businesss again. Is it good to create website and write content for adsense ads on the webpages.
With all the hard work, SEO, Link building and burning competition for a single person..is it a good idea considering the present market scenario??

It's really not. Adsense seems to not work very well (low CPC / non-contextual ads) on new websites, and the amount of effort/expense SEO takes these days makes it very difficult to see a return. A lot of people generate traffic to Adsense websites via social media, however, but I actually think services like Outbrain/Taboola/Content.ad/etc. are more profitable for that.

Those 'content' ads tend to be clicked on multiple times by bored people, so you can receive several clicks from one person which is less likely with Adsense. Here's an old article about that approach taken to the extreme: Is This the Worst Page on the Internet? | Digiday -- if you're generating your traffic for free from social media, you can see how that approach can do well.

SEO is no longer easy or passive money for new people, to be honest. I gave up on it entirely some time ago, and am much happier.

Nowadays I don't see ads on adsense sites related to the content of the site. Rather I see alot of retargeting following me on all the sites or ads that are related to my interest. Like I would see an add for a VPS on a funny video site.

SEO is not the same anymore! alot has changed and things have got tougher.. There are many who get ranked and then all their hard work goes down the drain when google comes up with an algo update.

However earning via adsense is still possible and lucrative, read this case study here: $100,000 in One Week, a Viral Nova Follow-Up

Nowadays its about viral traffic via social media

AdSense has a lot of remarketing now and is not a good way to make a profitable website unless you have a lot of free traffic and a good way to manipulate people into clicking the links.

CPA offers are good if you provide a personal sales pitch for something you use.

Personally my favorite monetization method is consulting related to whatever your niche is. People are always willing to pay for time and often pay a lot!

IMO, Adsense alone isn't enough, it might be something of a side project or an addon but I domt think adsense alone is enough

Adsense market is pretty beaten up to be frank, you still can make some money with it but that is definitely not something that you can rely on..
