Why the Google Keyword Planner is not accurate at all?

Tools---Keyword Planner

Get search volume for a list of keywords...

I input 'vintage style tip'

Targeting USA

The result is (-) which means zero.

In fact ,I know many people search 'vintage style tip' for tips of vintage style.

I also tried the 'Europe travel tip'

It shows Avg. monthly searches is 10

I also very doubt this result, in USA there are at least thousands people search 'Europe travel tip' in summer.

So the Google Keyword Planner is not accurate at all, What's your opinion?

    Its not, Just shows approximate values. You won't get exact values anywhere in the web.

      In fact ,what I mean is it has a big error .

      Such as you try the keywords of 'Europe travel tip'

      It shows Avg. monthly searches is 10.

      The real searches may be 10,000.

      What do you make of it?

    I have exact situation as you. I typed once a root keyword about gardening and the result is about 100 but when i campaign it, theres so many visitors visit my site and lead me to sale. I think about more that 1000 visitors per month.
    I think google made it to minimize competitions and give opportunity for new marketers. I rather use my common sense first before i ask the keyword planner.

    Google's not the only keyword tool that gives crazy results like this. Some tools like MicrositeMasters & etc.. will say ZERO search volume for keywords that Google says gets 1000+ a month. I usually compare a couple results and also use common sense with these things. In general Google does a pretty good job of giving you a favorable idea of the popularity of the keyword searches though.
