Make money with Adsense

Make money with the Adsense program

People usually over complicate things, but in order to make money with Google's Adsense program, you need just three things.

* A domain

You need your own domain if you want to start. Some people will advice you to start without one using free blogspot blogs or revenue sharing programs (like Squidoo or Hubpages), but the truth is you have little to no control over the free platforms. They reserve the right to shut your account down without giving you any special treatment or so much as an explanation. That's not the right way to start a business.

Once you have your own domain, you can control the ad positioning, test which fonts and color scheme will work best for you. That's how you can actually increase your revenue with very small tweaks.

* An audience

If you have your website ready, it's time to get traffic. You know, they're not just going to show up because you've build it. That's not how things work. You have to work at promoting your website in order to get your first visitors and try to make them come back and see updates on your site.

You can get traffic from:

x Search Engines. You have to learn a little SEO to understand how it works, how to create the best content that attracts visits, how to device link baits and more

x Social Media. Social sites are becoming fast the number 1 source of referral traffic. Facebook, Youtube, Pinterest, Twitter, Yahoo Answers ... just to name but a few. What you have to do? Create a channel of communicating with your following, engage discussions and bring value (and maybe a hint of controversy) and increase the number of fans. Keep your fans happy & frequently updated and you may never need another traffic source.

x Strategic Partnerships. One of my favorite strategies is blog guesting. Find sites that already have traffic and find ways of working with the owner of the site to feature your ad or articles in front of his audience. Once you get the hang of it you will have both traffic and increased link popularity which may rise search engine traffic.

* Good ad positioning

Position your ads wrongfully and you may see only 2-3% CTR (how many people who see the ad actually click on it). With better ad positioning and color schemes it's possible to have 7-20% CTR which may result in your revenue being double, even without a traffic increase.
