As non-specialist : describe your problems when you try to build website for your business, both with web developer, hosting and technology you use in building ?

It was definitely harder to build a website back then than now. 10 years ago you needed technical skills if you wanted to customize your site. It's easier now but you're still limited to the functionality your CMS and hosting can provide.

I've learned from experience what seems to hold a lot of people back is the fear of the unknown. They are not familiar with the terminology or what to expect. For example, talk about pointing a domain or DNS records and most people's eyes glaze over.

The one good thing about today is Youtube. People can actually watch and see exactly what to do. Which is where I recommend anyone trying to do it themselves.
