Hey guys,

I am new to marketing and I am running the marketing division for a small B2B company. I am trying to generate more leads for our sales team and think that doing a product demonstration webinar would be ideal to get new leads. However, when I discuss it my team (sales) they believe that the webinar is a sales function and not marketing and that they need to be involved in every aspect of it (content, scheduling, moderation, etc.). I definitely want to include them in it but from everything I'm reading I see that is actually a marketing function. Am I wrong?

Hope to get the opinion and insight of other more experienced marketers!

If they need to run the show from start to finish, suggest that they do the entire thing, themselves. Watch them run for the exit.

  • Webinars are in essence a sales page done on video, leading and pacing the webinar attendees to take an action (which is in most cases usually to buy a high ticket offer) after the webinar is complete.

Webinars are marketing tools used to drive high priced sales.
