2 days in, blog already has 38k views...how do I monetize?

Hi all,

I have read this forum many times and enjoy the advice you give. Now, I'm asking for some advice.

Here's the deal. I got kind of lucky as I created a political blog just 2 days ago and in the past 13-14 hours, I've had over 38k views.

People are enjoying the content, although I only have about 6-7 posts up so far.

My question for the experts, as I'm new to building my own blogs....how would you monetize a site like this? And how much average daily traffic do you think I need to turn it into a solid moneymaker.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

    Awesome PB.

My take; you are 2 days in, so you're a blogging newborn. Slow down, calm down, and ground yourself by not making decisions based on numbers, on a screen. You need passion, patience and persistence to build a loyal following. Folks usually take more than 2 days to become loyal

What do you most enjoy doing? Writing? Video? Dwell on passions, and you have the seed for monetizing ideas. But take a deep breath buddy, and remember that steady profits flow to bloggers 99.999999% obsessed with *giving* and barely interested in getting. Keep building, pass the time test, and your real estate will eventually become valuable financially.

You do realize that there are four days before the mid-terms, right? I'd wait to see where you are two weeks from now,

Conversions is the name of the game. Traffic is a precursor. By itself, it's meaningless.

There are lots of things you can be selling, starting today. Check-out what others are doing. Don't give anything away. You're a business, Find out what others are selling and take action.

Either that or convert your whole operation to a 501(c)3.

Do prepare for a major drop-off after Tuesday. People's brains are fried and most will be taking a vacation from politics. Even the loons!

How did you achieve that much traffic to your blog when you only have 6-7 blogs posts? What kind of content do you have?

It's mostly a satirical political blog.

I got the absolute perfect domain which is the name of someone who is making headlines right now (for bad things).

I wrote up a handful of posts, shared them on my Twitter and an influential social media figure somehow saw it and loved it so he shared it to his 200k followers. It just kinda snowballed from there. Now I have dozens of people begging me to keep writing.

Wow! Struck it lucky early on. Good for you!

I would start by monetizing with Adsense so that you can take advantage of your current traffic. My guess, you're getting a ton of views due to the upcoming election and the traffic will likely die down once it's over. I could be wrong, of course.

After you get Adsense up, take the time to decide how you most want to monetize the blog. Do you want to sell other people's products, your own products or run with ads?

You can change the strategy later, but for now, I'd stick with Adsense so that you can see some return on your traffic.

Those look like some good stats. Is it sustainable?

I would look at cpa offers with banner ads to monetize.

Wow! That's great traffic for such a new site! How about starting up your email list so that you don't lose these people just as quickly as they come?

  • Great job so far.

Try to model what you have done so far.

It's a blog so I'm assuming there will be more than two days worth of posts?

Was and repeat. Once you get consistent daily traffic then slowly work in your monetization.

My guess is that the views will drop after the elections.
If you have people begging you to keep writing, just do it. Write more of the same type of content.
For a start, you can monetize the blog with adsense or other similar alternatives.
You can also create a free guide to give away to email subscribers. Just choose a popular niche to create an email list about, them send them affiliate offers. Use a free autoresponder like mailer lite and create a simple pdf with tips about a popular niche like weight loss, making money etc.
You can also use amazon affiliate ads, as items like political books would be shown and you would earn commission from sales.

People... 6-7 posts... what people? Bots my friend, bots.

There is another about 2 years old 'Bubble of Delusions' political forum
I'm sure would be happy to get solid stream of members never mind to
make some money simply because politics is boring and you have to be
too deep in it to spend your time fighting whose ideas are better.

I would personally look into native ad networks. These worked really well for me on some of my sites over the years.

Well I had a Joke but it would be Political. Not allowed.

But YOU already know where your audience is leaning. Get some Clever One Liner T Shirts and Mugs in front of them Pronto.

Also are they Beer Drinkers or Wine Drinkers...tailor everything to your specific audience.

Satire is entertaining if you have the traffic you def need to be making some conversions....sign them up with a freebie ..make it feel exclusive to them that way you can get multiple chances to make a sale.

My suggestion is not about monetization, but about traffic. Post your articles on Reddit. Your articles will blow up and you'll get a ton of visitors.
