Internet Hosting Qestion for Wordpress Websites

We launched a new website on a Godaddy hosting plan recently. I was told by Godaddy that even though I upgraded from the Economy hosting to the Deluxe, that it did not have enough power to run wordpress and woocomerce type sites because of the server demand wordpress demands. That I would need to upgrade to the Business class hosting if I wanted my sites to load quickly. Google site speed tests show my site loading quite quickly.

Are they trying to upsell me?

We have plans to launch a few websites with them. I am all for upgrading once I am getting a lot of traffic but do I really need to spend $30 a month to host 3-5 stores that get less than 50k viewers per month each?

As with everything, there is a budget. Starting out these websites will make no money. Once I am making money it is easier to justify spending 30-80 bucks a month on hosting. If it is even needed then.

They are very confusing with their plans. I see regular hosting plans that allow "unlimited" websites and then I see wordpress only plans that no matter what only host 1 website.

I primarily use SiteGround. for my building IM from nothing thread I am trying DreamHost, and from what I have seen so far its not to bad... we shall see what happens once we throw some "Load" at it.

The reason I chose DreamHost, #1 its on the suggested list for wordpress. #2 the cost... when starting out the cost of ONE URL is included with the hosting package. Not for just the 1st year, but for the term of using them for hosting.

I have used Bluehost, and for the most part I would say that it was a decent experience - the speed however pretty much sucked - SiteGround and DreamHost are far better choices in regards to that variable.

I have used siteground in the past and worked great. I have a site now that has been on Hostgator for years with no issues at all. I have not used bluehost but have read it is a good solution for wordpress, although most people are promoting it so they are probably biased

In the WordPress communities I frequent there are a number of running jokes about GoDaddy. My favorite is "friends don't let friends host with GoDaddy".

Joking aside, I would recommend moving moving your site to a different provider. In my experience smaller providers that have been in business successfully a number of years tend to be better because they are less likely to overstuff their servers.

Does the majority of your traffic come from a specific geographic region, or is your site pretty much international?

BTW if you're willing to spend $25+ per month you can get managed WordPress hosting where they take care of updates, security and stuff for you. In the price range you're talking about you can go to a place like WPX Hosting or Kinsta, which are some of the top rated hosts in terms of just about everything.

If you want to spend less than that, you have big reliable options like A2hosting and Siteground and smaller probably higher value ones like NameHero and Knownhost. You can get a few years of hosting from one of them at a reduced rate, then rather than pay the rebill price you can move to WPX or Kinsta when the time is right.

That's what I would do if I was starting out fresh and targeting a North America centric audience.

Don`t go for WPX HOSTING, worst experience, theirs software aren`t stable, they have few options and very inconsistent results...

Bluehost works fine for my Wordpress Blog. ~180 $ shared hosting for 3 years with all the unlimited resources (websites, storage, bandwidth, e-mails, domains). Google it for 'best web hosting' see the first 5-8 results to see the rankings and compare what each hosting service is offering.

    KVChosting.net and brixly.uk plans are Wordpress-friendly.

Prices are low and servers are well-balanced.
