Pricing for a Freelance Writing Project

Hi,

I'm a freelance writer and I have an opportunity to write an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) manual for an existing client. I've never done this before and I wonder if anyone could please provide some advice on how much I should charge. Also, should I charge by the hour or by the project?

    Hello Bandi,

    If it is for an existing client you should be able to gauge how much
    they are willing to spend based on what they spent on their past
    projects. How much do you normally charge and how much are
    they willing to spend. How much more tedious and technical is
    this SOP going to be than what you have produced in the past?
    How much time are you going to spend on research. Have you
    asked your client what the project is worth to them. I would take
    all of those things into consideration when calculating the cost.

    Are you having to interview anyone? Compile the findings? Determine whether what they told you is correct or not?

    Or are you handed a flowchart and instructed to write descriptions?

    How many processes are you looking at?

    We need a few more details here.
