Is Twitter USELESS for NEWBIES trying to get into Internet Marketing?

To me, Twitter is just meant for celebrities and people who are in the limelight, like politicians, etc, etc. These people are followed by the media and by their fans and haters and they get a lot of 'HITS' to whatever they post on Twitter.

But for people who are new to IM and trying to get people on Twitter to see what they are doing -
They would do far better trying to scale Mt. Everest!

Twitter is just so useless to such newbies!!

But then, that is just my 2 bits.

What do you think guys?

Do share please.

If you think Twitter can work for newbies too, do share why you think so and how it will work for newbies to IM?

Your answers are sure to help many newbies to IM, who post on Twitter - and get ZERO results!

Thank you.
Regards.

    Hi,

Twitter is as you say great for those that are already famous or have a massive following.

However you can harness the power of Twitter even if you are not so well known.

The thing to do is to create an account and follow people in the same field as you such as internet marketing.

Follow around 20 or more per day until you are following a couple of hundred.

Post articles that will be of interest to people in your field and have a link to your website.

If you are consistent after a while you will get traffic from Twitter. It is really a matter of getting into the habit of following others, and then posting at least once a day, which does not really take long.

    Hope this helps.

Within the Twitter environment this would be considered spamming to say the least. Really a BAD strategy.

The alternative... Do a search for a key term in your Niche and see where that term has been posted.. and go in and try and add to the conversation - Add Value. DO NOT drop a link to your latest and greatest post that's just a dick move and not appreciated by anyone.

So how do you link to your content? you place your website in your profile. and you can leave links to articles within your feed. But again in the middle of doing this add value to your niche.

You can go around and follow people if you like... knock yourself out. However... following vs actually being "Social" - Social will win every time - that is kinda the idea of the platform isn't it?

Just remember Twitter is a SOCIAL platform. join conversations, add value - and let THAT draw people to your account.

You can follow the exact same strategy for Instagram as well.

      Hope that Helps!

Yes. It's easy for celebs to get twitter followers. But people have used twitter to get famous over time.

Also, celebs often take years to get a good opportunity on the mainstream media. They usually don't get famous in a few days or months.

Besides the advice from others, use a couple of hashtags that are not so popular at the end of your tweets. If you use popular hashtags, your tweets will get lost among many other tweets on the hashtag page.

The thanks button is usually enough to show your appreciation of a post. There's no need to quote the whole post just to say thanks again, unless you have something extra you want to add.

Twitter isn't useless. Just make sure you use hashtags in your tweets. Your tweets aren't meant for only your followers eyes.
