I'm new to it so I just write reviews from the sales page and swipe files that are given and post on my website.
I worked with a $20 budget on google ads and I had about 50 clicks on my ad and no sale.
Thinking about finding a sub niche in the software niche to write articles about. I'd been through the warrior forum and I've seen that writing about articles one at a time for a keyword with less search volume and less competition can build my authority. Just not sure how to niche down or how to find a sub niche in that the software niche

Hello Boluwatife!

It is difficult when you are just starting out to find/decide
upon a good niche. There are thousands of topics and
products to promote so I won't attempt to advise you on
which ones are the best. I would recommend that you
research what people are spending money on, preferably
something that is evergreen, so that you can put up a site
or a system and let it generate passive income for a few
years. If you are going to promote digital products you
might consider developing something of your own. If you
promote physical products I suggest high-end items so
when there is a sale you receive generous commissions.
And just continue to work at it until you figure it out, it will
eventually all fall into place for you if you don't give up.

One of the good ways to get engagement with software is to do tutorials on how to do various things with the software. Also, there is software & apps for most larges niches like health, wealth, seo, marketing etc.

Take software for example, what do you use? What is your go to? Right now VIDEO is hot, live stuff.

LOOM is a relatively new player in the arena, but those who are using it are becoming raving fans.

So when you go to promote software to any audience, YOU should be a raving fan too.

You have given us very little (NO) information about what you are doing, so don't expect much help here.

Why are you starting with affiliate marketing? WHY software? WHERE have you tried to market this? What sort of promotion did you use?

And that barely scratches the surface of what you need to know to make any money from your efforts.

I've always wanted to make money online and I've known about affiliate marketing for a while. I'm starting with the software niche because that was what I was thought with. I paid for a course and on the course software niche,jvzoo,warriorplus were used to teach me. I've only made review on my website,that was the buck of what the course taught me,write reviews on newly launched products and post on my website. Optimize the review page with a google search ads and that's what I've done so far.

The course did not teach you enough.

Optimizing with Google keywords is not good enough. You need to pick the right keywords... long tail...

But even if you do that right, there is not going to be that much traffic... usually. It would take a lot of pages ranking at #1 to have decent traffic.

If you're going with that method... keep writing... you needs dozens if not more pages at #1.

You should look at the SILO page structure for SEO (https://www.bruceclay.com/seo/silo/ is a page with a good explanation on why and how).

You're better off promoting things you're actually using and love using... A lot easier to write about them, in general, a lot easier to write about them in a way that connects and persuades your prospects.

Software is not a niche, it's an industry.

Niches would be: appointment booking software for yoga studios
or
convert text to video

or software to keep track of your leads and clients (it would be even better if you did it by industry... as in keep track of leads and clients in the mortgage industry).

You should work at finding customers rather than niches. Find customers with ongoing problems. Then serve those people. As you have learned, niche marketing doesn't work well.

I understand what you are saying... and its very valid with a caveat... experience. I personally have been playing the "Online Game" for 30+ years now... I personally can jump into any niche I want because I have the experience needed to make a sale.

Rome was not built-in a day nor for $20.00. The reality is you would need to do this for the next 100 days and maybe then, you could come to better understand what is going to work, and what does not. You obviously do not have the budget for that, and there is nothing wrong with that. The very fact you were motivated enough and TRIED speaks volumes about you.

So let me ask you a series of questions:

do you OWN any of the software that you are trying to sell?

Do you have a self hosted website?

Do you have a LinkedIn account?

Do you have a Instagram Account?

Do you have a Facebook account?

do you have a twitter account?

Answer these questions and we will go from there.

  Why I am asking this... Experience falls into 2 categories. the experience of selling online. Which I can assume you do not have ( and again this is fine ) and then there is experience with the product itself.
  
  As it stands right now, you are trying to figure out how to sell online, and have no idea what exactly you are selling and its a bad combination. You have to find a product that YOU can believe in, that YOU can say "hey world, this product works for me, it will work for you." Make sense?
  
  What I want you to do today is find a piece of software that YOU will use, something that will make your life as a marketer easier. I then want you to DM here on WF what that product is so I can take a look at it. and again we will go from there.

Software is a broad category. A niche can be like goal setting software which is in personal development niche etc. The more targeted your marketing is towards your niche the better are your chances of getting a sale.

Find out what your software does and in which niche it can be sold. Google and Facebook advertising can be highly targeted if you know what you are doing and getting a sale should not be tough once you identify your target audience.

Before you try selling something always think for your target audience. Without having a definite target audience, it is not possible to reach out to consumers that are interested in your product.

Its all about supply and demand. I use the google keyword planner to see search volume for markets and niches. Its all a numbers game. To follow the guidelines I assume you have a landing page for your campaigns. From there hopefully your capturing a lead. Start that and optimize for the conversions. After you get the conversions the next step is having a good open rate on your emails.

If your selling on the thank you page after the opt in start there but then work on getting good open rates and click through rates on your email. Takes time but again its all a numbers game. Hope this helps and sheds a little light on the subject.

People usually need to have an established relationship before a sale. When you buy stuff you usually shop where you know the store or the people? That's especially true online.

Hi ! I guess you may want to check on your copy of those Google ads that you ran and how you could run some split tests to select the copy that gives you a higher click-through or sales. Before you run your ads, researching on keywords is inevitable. You need the SEO part of it to help to make your ad more visible as well. Simple keyword researches from keyword tool like Keyword io, helps you to put your ad copy together to make it more 'searchable' on the internet.

If there are click-throughs with no sales, you will need to review if it's a software that you need to continue to market. But then again, we are talking about softwares here so perhaps promoting it has to be done differently. People may need to understand more indepth how the software is useful to them and why it is of value. Perhaps linking it to a video to demonstrate the functional benefits of the software.

If you want to succeed in business find a niche you love. What are you most passionate about in life make a list of 5 areas on interest/hobbies then from that list find a premium service or product you can offer or sell.

Hi.
I think you are right to ask if/how to narrow down to a sub-niche.
I would actually debate whether 'software' is a niche itself, at all.
It would be like asking if, let's say, books, are a niche.
The route of writing reviews is a good one when a well defined niche is targeted and these reviews are intermingled with other kinds of posts to do with the niche subject.
This is why it is always advised to choose a niche that we are at least interested, involved and knowledgeable in so that the reader is engaged and trusts that you speak from their perspective.
For instance, which review of video conversion software are you most likely to click the link to product from? Someone who reviews various, unrelated software or from a videographer?
Find something you are passionate about and make that your niche. Perhaps you love cooking. Now your niche is cooking. Not only can you then review and recommend recipe software, but anything else that relates to cooking - recipe eBooks, online courses, even your favourite ingredients.
