From experience, Facebook ads are quite affordable.

hmmmm... every platform can be very expensive in case you are a newbie and do not really know what you are doing in terms of the product you sell, how your landing page looks, what you write in your ad, who you are targeting etc..

you need a lot of testing until something works out well which will be expensive no matter where you promote..

it depends on what kind of services or products you are offering. Apart from Google and Facebook ads, you can conder on good local listing and classified website. otherwise, Google ads are more costly than Facebook ads.

You did not state what you are selling. If it is products, the most affordable cost/conversion is usually Microsoft/Bing Shopping because far fewer websites advertise on that platform. You won't get nearly the traffic you will with Google Shopping and it is demographically a much older audience but those are the people with the money to spend on themselves, their older kids and grandchildren.

What would your answer be for infoproducts like ebooks, membership sites, etc?

And what about consulting/coaching type services?

      Thanks.

Usually, with those types of things, your best bet is advertising on the highest traffic sites that cater specifically to the people who need that type of service, ebook, etc.

Another approach would be teaming up with people in the niche, doing a shared webinar. Usually this involves paying a cut of any sales from that webinar to the main site that has the traffic and is hosting the webinar.

I think I might have a slightly different perspective on this topic. If I am selling a "Product" as in a physical product like an electric scooter or a pair of shoes... I will run ads, and generally use Facebook or Instagram ads as a goto. ( the easiest to target )

But as we get into the realm of Info products or membership sites... ads ( for me ) are not an out of the box strategy... more so once there is an amount of momentum the ads would be used to SCALE, vs build if that makes sense.

Selling e-books and membership sites... you have to spend the time and develop "Authority" within the target community. The sales will simply come naturally at that point once you release a product... people will know, YOU know what you are talking about.

I believe thinking you can run ads and overcome the hurdle of "Authority" and make sales... is farfetched at best... and in reality, dang near impossible. This is just a scenario that decreases the balance of your bank account.

The same is true with coaching / consulting. You have to have a body of work be it on forums or your own website, or in videos etc that place you as a person of Authority on the topic. without this, you are just fighting an uphill battle. In these instances it is more than just the area of expertise... you have to develop a relationship. Ads dont build relationships... but with time Ads can multiply relationships once there is an amount of leverage aka existing relationships with positive results.

Ads in these cases is how you take these types of business to the NEXT level vs getting them off the ground.

        Hope that Helps!

Really just need to tailor your offer to the people that can benefit most.

          Then...leverage somone elses audiences.

You could start out with shoutouts for shoutouts on Instagram then to paid for example.

  • Before start using paid advertising make sure you know your conversion rate and lifetime value of your product or service as this dictates how much you can afford to pay to acquire a new customer.

Make the most of organic traffic, referrals, free directories, local newspapers, networking events etc.

    Good luck!

  • you can go for Facebook ads. if you are a beginner it is quite simple and easy to use when compared to google ads. but remember big-budget leads to more audience.

Before anyone makes a blanket statement like this, you really need to know what the person is selling and what it costs. I guarantee you that few ads do well on Facebook that are marketing things that cost several hundred dollars or more unless it is the most unique, "wow, I absolutely have to have that" product in the world and it is so fantastic, people will pay anything for it.

You have to remember that nobody goes to Facebook looking to buy things. Your ad is intruding on the real reason they logged into Facebook, so it better be a "wow, I have to have that now" product that is affordable enough for someone who isn't looking to buy anything in the first place. And, you better give them a reason to BUY IT NOW (FOMO).

How low on capital is "low on capital"? Let's say you're talking about $25.

The first thing that comes to mind is PPC. But it's tough to get high quality top tier traffic from Google/Microsoft Ads for under $0.25 per click.

If you're willing to invest $0.50 per click on a visitor, then for $25.... you can get 50 top tier clicks - and measure the responsiveness of your landing page to see how well it performs. Using Google and Microsoft Ads of course.

Again, that's a blanket statement. It really depends on what they are selling. There are plenty of search terms you can show up for under 10 cents per click - especially product-specific ones.

Generally speaking, if I am selling products that people can buy for $99 or less, I take my profit per sale and multiply by .02. That assumes a 2% conversion rate.

If they cost a customer $100-$499, I assume a 1.5% conversion rate. I take my profit per sale and multiply by .015.

If the product sells for $500 to $999, I assume a 1% conversion rate. I take my profit per sale and multiply by .01.

If it sells for more than $1,000, I assume a .5% conversion rate. I take my profit per sale and multiply by .005.

These are just starting points. I will adjust those up and down depending on actual conversion data and ROI. Sometimes, lowering the bid means lower impressions at the same conversion rate, but a higher ROI.

I do this at the product ID level, making sure that the group bid is always lower than the lowest product bid in that group and that the campaign bid is the same or lower than the group bid.

I'm looking into pop under and push notifications. Apparently, they're cheap and the platforms have a low minimum deposit. Will be experimenting with them soon to see what happens.
