I want to set up an e-commerce store

I am a complete newbie to this. I have been thinking for years I want to do this.

Can someone point me in the right direction. Do's and don't. I went to flippa to get some ideas.

What is best way to monetize? Amazon, shopify? What is this dropshipping thing. Why would someone buy my amazon product instead of going directly to amazon. I have a couple websites through wix but my friend made those for me.

I am so new I am still unsure of the questions I am asking. Start up costs are low right?

Just need : 1.Domain, then 2. hosting. 3 Set up some products and stuff ( this is the part I have no clue on. 4. Draw traffic through adwords??

How does 1 add content and get to top of google? What about SEO? How do backlinks work?

What is best way to build a webpage? When someone buys a product, how do I process payment?

Just looking for some help to get this off the ground. Just lost my day job so I have time to do this right now. I look at flippa and so many of those what look like junk sites are making serious $$.

Anyone that can give any advice or help or anything would be appreciated. Anticipated start up costs are less than $500 aren't they? What are the best monetexation methods?? Amazon, shopify, clickbank, CPA offers?

  • See text in blue first. Your asking a multiple questions. Your going to get multiple different answers. What is the best monetization method depends what your promoting.

Start off here in this thread - https://www.warriorforum.com/main-in...sistently.html. . Also take a look at the Path Section of the forum - https://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-path/ Especially this thread - https://www.warriorforum.com/warrior...days-ebay.html Pick one method and stick with it.

Don't buy anything till you have a clear understanding what you want to do.

Since you lost your job. You better have 6 months at least in backup. If not replace that first. Nothing worse then trying to make money from home. With out a clue how to start.

  • You posted about a friend building WIX sites for you some time ago - same sites? Have you added content on a regular basis? Have you promoted the sites?

  • Dropshipping is more suitable for you depending on your situation.
It will be cheaper than Amazon to find products from Chinese suppliers and put them on the website, and the delivery can also be handed over to them. The key to this is to find a good supplier.
Then do a good job of SEO and use Google Ads to attract traffic.
  • There are so many questions - ones that require pages and pages of content to answer. Start off with a free eCommerce course that answers all of those questions and more!

  • When I got started in e-commerce, I've read tons of information and watched gigabytes of instructional videos for beginners. I suggest starting with the free tutorials.

  • I won't add the link, but go search for "webstores ltd" Greg Jameson has been setting up webstores since before ecommerce was even a word. Just about everyone with a successful webstore probably learned from him originally so might as well go to the source. Can't say it's free but nobody truly hand-holds you through the process like he does.
  • Shopify has courses that you can learn from for free. You can watch them on their site here:

I'd like to know if you're able to implement the suggestions above.

    • Wow, if it only was that simple ... "Build it and they will come ..."
  • When you start a thread asking for advice - and don't come back to read the replies or respond to suggestions....it is doubtful anything will 'work'.
