Hi guys,

Apologies if this is a stupid question, I'm very new to the SEO game, but any help would be much appreciated.

We run a soccer training website and are looking to drive organic traffic with blog posts relating to performance.

Our two major markets are the US & UK but we're having a little trouble with the difference between how the word football is used in both markets.

We're producing content such as 'How to get better at football.' The issue we're having though, is that we're now ranking for this keyword in the US, where the intent is obviously how to improve at American football and not soccer!

Is it possible to just repost the same 'how to get better at football' blog post, but just change all of the times we say football to soccer? Or will reposting the same content and having two similar articles on the site then negatively effect us in some way?

Thanks again,

Well, I don't think doing that will get rid of part of the problem, which is you still may show up for football results in the U.S. because of the article you targeted to the U.K.

Regardless of whether your soccer article ranks in the U.S. or not, you're going to have a bounce issue with the football article.

I'm not too bothered about the bounce issue for people who are looking for American football. I'm more bothered about trying to rank for the right kind of people who want soccer content, so we can get more of those in.

Daniel, what are you selling? I'm not sure online football courses are much of a thing in the UK, but I could be mistaken.

I also suspect the demographics of your potential market might be different in the US - and not just in the terminology. I'd be inclined to concentrate on one market, probably the US where there's more growth potential, but again, that depends on what you're trying to sell.
