Google Search Console - HTML file upload for ownership verification

Good evening,

I am currently building a website. I have installed Google Analytics and the next step is Google Search Console. However, I'm not sure how to do the HTML file upload verification.

Sorry about my ignorance, but do I need to install Filezilla to upload the HTML file (which is actually a web address) to my root directory?

    Why bother with adding the tag? Since you already have Google Analytics, just choose Google Analytics under the "other verification methods" section.

    I use filezilla for stuff like this myself but I am experienced using FTP and Filezilla. If you do use Filezilla I would be really careful, especially in the root folder.
