No luck selling domains, any suggestions?

I have a domain that is valuable but I can't get any eyeballs on it. Does anyone know a service I can pay somebody to broker the sale and cut them a commission. I'm not looking to get rich, I don't use the domain so I want to sell it. Any suggestions on the best marketplace or best way to make domain sales?

Sorry if I am breaking a rule with this post. I never try and break rules but I seem to have a talent for saying things that aren't allowed on this forum. Thank you.

What you think is valuable may not be what someone else thinks is 'valuable'. The best you can do is offer the domain on a domain selling site. It will sell or it won't. At some point it will need to be renewed and if it hasn't sold, don't renew it.

Sounds simplistic - but any domain is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It has to be visible in places where buyers LOOK for domains for sale.

    Who says it's valuable?

    Have you Googled domain brokers?

Listed on godaddy.com or some such site's auction section?

What makes a domain "valuable" is traffic and sales. Anything other than that is just ego-driven nonsense. Google and Bing were worthless domain names until they created something on them.

Still, there are those out there who think that a domain name is super important. Hopefully, you can find one of those people to buy the site. List it on GoDaddy and see what happens.

You can try putting it on Flippa.com, there's no guarantee it will sell but you'll get lots of eyes on it that way. The more proof you have of the "value" of your website the more bids you'll get.

  • I understand the concept. I said it's valuable because I have 100 domains and this one has on of the higher estimated values on all of the free appraisal tools (I know that doesn't mean much, but it means it has some intrinsic value).

Not really - as stated months ago - those online tools are guesswork, nothing more.

In the months since you first posted about the domain - have you placed it for sale on domain selling sites? That is how you find out what someone is willing to pay for it.

How long before the domain registration expires? How many of the 100 domains you registered are earning money for you? Are you continually renewing them as they reach expiration dates?

Hundreds of thousands of domains are dropped every
day, so why would anyone spend money to buy yours
when they can get a dropped domain or think up their
own domain name for the cost of registration.

I recently had a domain appraised by, and up for sale
at BrandBucket for $25K but it meant nothing unless
somebody bought it, which they didn't.

Domain names are a dime a dozen and unless you
have something truly unique, three or four letters, or
some other special thing going on, brokers are not
    going to deal with you.

List your domains at the usual places, as well as the
domain forums, and don't be attached to them if you
get an offer. Or develop them into websites and sell
    them that way.

I used to own 3000 domains names, I bought a bunch of them from expireds, some drops and lots of hand registered ones based on keyword google traffic. My goals was to flip domains and make $50,000 a year.

Never happened, I was so disappointed that no one would even give me $500 for what I thought was valuable names, but I did sell several in the $150 to $500 ranges, but not many and many ales were from me endlessly reaching out to potential end users through emails and marketing.

No sales came from platforms like sedo or godaddy, surprisingly to me.

I think like the fellow said earlier ego can rreally trip one up in the domain business.

I have 100 domains left and I am not re-registering any except the core ones I want to develop and I use for landers. I basiocally got to use my domains as really good tax write-offs and expense deductions. NOT MY ORIGINAL PLAN THOUGH

I truly wish I could figure out how to make a full time living from flipping domains, but value is so subjective, what you think is valuable, may be worthless, unlike real estate, finding value is a matter of proven rules that work over and over. Domains is not the same, in my experiece.

I must also note, that I did not ever fully try to list my domains on several platforms at once, maybe had I done that I would have gotten more exposure. I mainly relied on afternic BUY NOW/MAKE OFFER and cash parking at Bodis or ParkingCrew for the landing pages. ANd I never paid for the premium network exposure like SedoMLS

Bodis banned me because I accidently clicked on a domain, mistakenly, and they are 100% intolerant of that, and parkingcrew did a series of pay cuts due to advertisers not paying their bills in the upstream recently which I thought was odd.

I can be difficult in selling domains, i do know some can be worth quite a sum of money, it is best doing some research on finding out were they are sold, i would join some facebook groups and sell on their, or even ask questions about were u can sell theme, or even contact some of the domain companies themselves maybe they would buy domains or put you in the right direction, i hope this helps and best of luck in your search
