coming back with marketing

Hi, I started digital marketing 1 or 2 months ago and every day I studied and applied everything I learned until one week I decided to upgrade my computer to Windows 11. I managed to upgrade, but I had a problem with the HD on my PC which caused me to lose all data and it took me more than a week to recover my computer. Now I should have gone back to marketing all the way, but I realized that all the time, I'm procrastinating and I keep watching lectures and courses instead of getting back to doing something. If you have any tips or advice that might help me get back

A month ago you said you started 'two months ago' - now you say 1-2 months.

It's so easy to listen to lectures and take courses - you can just sit there and dream and pretend you are working hard.

Self motivation is a critical element of working at anything - online, or a job ...anything you want to accomplish requires YOU to apply what you've learned.

In another thread you posted this:

I've already opened my store, made some products, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea or I should keep trying to sell as an affiliate, apart from that I don't know if they're going to charge my card for each printful order I still don't know how this platform works, so I thought it was better to just take the risk,

In the month since you posted the above - have you taken the time to understand HOW THE PLATFORM WORKS? Do you know when you will be charged? What have you done to promote your store? Focus on learning ONLY what you can use now.

You seem to have 'started' and then stalled out...have tried several things but have not reported back on how well you did those things or what your results were.

You are right, most of all the courses I took I marathoned each class more than 5x and applied everything and a little more, after the last few posts I kept posting on pinterest while trying to solve a problem in my checkout redirection store

Hey Dark Bunny (by the way, love the screen name),

I'm basing this response solely on the words in your posts so far...

It seems like you're flittering about with a little bit of desire to be a marketer, but not much motivation to get it done.

So my first question would be... Why do want to get into marketing?

Do you have an end goal in mind, or a compelling reason why you want what you think you want?

I ask because right now I feel without a strong enough reason why, you'll continue to flitter about for the foreseeable future.

It's a good question, sometimes I tell myself that a little bit is to help my family, but actually, I want to achieve great things, live the greatest experiences that life can provide, walk alongside great people, have mentors who changed the world, creating and doing things so incredible and so extraordinary that they will leave a mark somewhere in the world, at least in my country. I know how high I can go even if I get unmotivated, and deviating a little with something so small, I don't want to let it affect me because I know that even people who have created real empires have been there. I can't get out of my head, which high I want to reach, every time I want to conquer something even though I haven't even gotten there, every day I increase the number of experiences I know I'm going to live, even though I haven't lived them yet, I'm going to be so good and so skilled that I'll be at the table sitting next to people who do things that others think are impossible, amazing projects, big releases, real changes in people's lives and this is just the beginning

Those are some highly ambitious aspirations Dark Bunny, and I have every reason to believe you'll achieve much of that one day. If you want it bad enough.

Out of curiosity, which country are you from?

        Sounds like a plan.

        Which brings up another question...

Who are the people you're hanging out with right now? Are you actively meeting any new people yet who are already sitting at that table? Or anyone else who might be in the future?

I'm from Brazil, I already have in mind all the people I want to create a good network with, and get into their masterminds, I grew up far from people and I know that I still don't have much ability with conversations, so I started making the best courses in my country, and training prospecting people, I literally started trying to talk to some people in chats like discord groups or apps I will even start offering marketing services to local businesses just to practice and train approaching unknown people . I want to get out of my comfort zone as much as I can so that I have the skills to connect with these great minds when I come face to face with them.

I know and feel that procrastinating lifestyle extremely well..

It's something I'm fighting against ever since haha..

The only way how to come out of this is as Sarubin said, to find your why...and once you have it you need iron discipline. I'm doing this myself at the moment and decided to work 2 productive hours per day on my business for 30 days straight.

Maybe something like this could help you too to find your way back into doing things.

I already wrote what I want several times, I have images, I have everything written in detail with huge texts, I even made a video. More to keep focused I decide to sacrifice some things to not lose focus, series, programs, music, going out with friends, going out with family, relationships, studies and courses that I really wanted to do, weekends, holidays, my hobby favourite, I build a controlled routine to make sure I'm sleeping well, getting sun and eating well to think in the best possible way.

First, my kid spent a year in Sao Paulo as an exchange student, and reported the country is very divided between the haves (wealthy) and have nots, is this true for you? It appears you may have been out in the country? Anyhow, Brazil has one of those feast/famine economies, but appears to have some good online connectivity, which is good for you.

The fact you are aware of the importance of ROUTINES, and controlling them, is a very good thing. I have some advice for you as regards meeting the people you want to meet. I was able to do that in my younger days and this is what I learned. Well, before I tell you that, here is a partial list of those marketers I met or communicated with...Gary Halbert, Ben Suarez, Rod Napier, Joe Karbo, Melvin Powers, Harvey Brody, Jerry Buchanan, Jim Straw, Gil Turk, Gene Schwartz, Burt Morgan and my best of the best; serial Entrepreneur Ed Barr. And many others.

I tell you this because you want to put yourself around the successful people of today and starting with who surrounds.

First, they are just people. Their poop stinks too.

Two, RESPECT their time, don't ambush, surprise or catch them off guard, so don't be like a TMZ (American gossip).

Parlay every introduction into another one, show eagerness to LISTEN, learn cues when it is time to leave, keep most meetings short, you'll get more of them.

Keep tight lipped about what any given person says to you, keep it to yourself.

Put yourself on their tracks. You can attend events, often as a volunteer for say, a charity event, where the people you want to meet will be at. You just want to be seen, not heard here. But the more they see you, the more familiar you become and then when you reveal your goals and aspirations, the more likely they will engage with you on a more meaningful level.

Don't act like an investigative reporter and ask a lot of questions right away, take time to develop a relationship.

As part of your ROUTINE, you should daily, send letters or postcards, NOT EMAIL, to these people, often with a just a thank you, or a small card, thanking them for something.

Focus on people you will want to work with, this way the conversations, when they become business, will give you useful insights to the industry in general.

You have big goals, which is good, and you are off on the right foot, continue to BUILD those routines into rituals, which can not be broken, and keep your eye on the prize and you can go as far as you want.

        Good luck,

        GordonJ

    Do Revenue Generating Activities.

Watching videos is not an RGA.

To a point, you * do * need to watch some things, to get a clear mental picture of what you're trying to accomplish.

So we start with GordonJ's "Why". What are you doing and why? Who do you want to help? People with a lawn mowing business get more customers? Older women getting back into dating? Who? Why?

Then move to what you're going to have to do.

Every business is the same at its core. Whether it was in 1823, 1923, or 2023, you need the same things:

    Traffic (eyeballs)

    and

Conversion (a way to turn some of those people into buyers).

You are probably looking for The One Right Way to make money. There is none. People will tell you they have it, that their way is proven, that what they're giving you is complete. It probably isn't. It's just ONE way.

So once you've answered "Who am I going to help and why?" then you can move on to "How".

Some ways will resonate with you and some won't. You're probably afraid of cold calling. Most people are. So if you won't do that, you must choose some other way to get traffic. Paid ads. Organic traffic from YouTube videos you make. Creating a Facebook group for your topic, and finding ways to attract people to it.

And what will you sell them, to make money? A course? A service? Will it be your course or service, or someone else's? If the solution is someone else's, then you have an affiliate marketing business.

Do you have a clear mental picture of what you're trying to create and why?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[11768154].message }}
  • Think of your Why? If you have a big enough reason you want this, and a horrible enough consequence if you don't succeed, you won't waste time with things that don't move the needle.

Busy work is what 90% of all people do when they get started. Web design, fonts, images... ask yourself what's going to make you money. Then do that.

After 2 courses where you actually did the work. You know more than a beginner and enough to make your first dollar online.

Start again and this time, keep your stuff in Google Drive so you don't have to worry about a computer crash.

Organize your business and you'll kill it.

The 'country' question can make a difference - it's not easy to be discussing IM if English is not natural to you.

I do think the OP may be rather young - due to the optimism.

Hold the cursor over your forum name in the black toolbar above...you will see "view classic" in gold in that dropdown menu...click on that.

You may need to log back in - but that will put you in a much better 'mode' to discuss things here. The 'modern view' you are automatically in when you join - is fine for a 'feed' but not for much else.

A lot of people are poking a bit of fun at you which i don't think is fair it takes time to build
    up an income online.

START AGAIN and have fun getting it done and don't listen to anything just go forward.
Make a few minutes for learning as some have suggested.

You're fine. You're no different then any of us.

Lastly I will just say when fear comes talking to you say "SHUTUP" it works don't listen to
    that.

I will also say coaching is not easy to navigate it can get quite costly and NOT HELP because
every coach is not always a coach sorry to have to say that. But its up to you if you need that.

For example when I first started i didn't get using an autoresponder when they came out and
ended up asking a very helpful guy. He helped me for free.

FYI thats what the WARRIOR FORUM IS FOR. Lest we forget that guys and gals.

Get help when you need help from those who have gone before you.

It's perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed, especially after a setback like this. My advice would be to start small and set specific, achievable goals for yourself each day.
Focus on taking consistent action, even if it's just for a short period of time. This can help you regain momentum and build confidence.
