Can we merge GBP for two businesses with different names but same services and service area?

Hi everyone,

I have a client who operates two businesses with different brand names but offering the same services in the same service area. Both businesses are registered as Service Area Businesses (SABs) under the same Google Business Profile (GBP) category. We're looking to merge their Google Business Profiles into one.

Is it possible to merge these two Google Business Profiles, considering they have distinct brand names but provide identical services in the same service area?

Thanks In Anticipation!

Maybe someone else can tackle the technical issues, but from a marketing standpoint, I'm curious to know why you'd want to merge them.

Isn't the point of having separate brand names that it gives the business a competitive advantage? In other words, you become your own competition and potential customers see you as two distinct brands?

It is incredible to think from this perspective, but in my case, the client is interested in merging their GBPs so that only one GBP will appear in Google Maps. Although I'm still confused, we can merge two GBPs with distinct brand names, which is possible for the same business name.

I want to first say that you are doing great to have a business offering this
service and that you have clients. That is a major accomplishment.

As to your question, it makes NO sense to do that and it cannot be done.

Why would they want to merge two businesses into one profile anyway.

Either maintain the two profiles separately or drop one of the businesses
(especially if it is underperforming) and drive on.

If you are going to continue to offer GMB services, you should get better
informed, there are courses and other resources available online and
    some of them are free.

  • Monetize, while merging with different brands is tricky, it can be done for SABs with Google's approval. Maybe Zeeshan can clarify if they've considered managing both profiles for maximum visibility?
