Linville Falls

Do you like hiking? I recently went hiking at the most beautiful falls, and wanted to share the information with you...

Linville Falls are 90-foot waterfalls which plunge into the Linville Gorge Wilderness and its area.

There are several hiking trails, and l/2 mile walk to the top of the falls and four overlook falls. "The Last of the Mohicans" was filmed at the Linville Falls, and used thesehiking trails .

Open year round, there is a seasonal campground, with a ranger station, and the Linville Falls are located off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Linville Falls Community.

The Linville Falls are a perfect lifestyle family fitness excursion, not only for family bonding time, physical exercise activity, amazing beauty, but also for the fact that there is no cost or admission.

Common Sense Tips when Visiting Linville Falls:

When hiking, know your limits and plan the trip to accommodate the members in your group;

Bring a cell phone or GPS to be able to keep in communication with others for safety reasons. There may be some remote areas, but there still can be access to others;

Be prepared for the weather by having a sweater or rain cover handy, just in case. Weather can change quickly, as well as be 10 degrees cooler in the mountains;

Hiking shoes or gym shoes are preferable for hiking compared to regular day shoes;

Keep valuables at home;

Bring a picnic lunch or snack for creating memories with the family, as well as providing energy for your hike;

Be aware of possible accidents; especially as the hiking trails can be slippery when wet;

Be careful near ledges; use common sense;

Dogs are allowed; have them preferably on a leash, and bring clean up bags;

Bring your camera!

Linville Falls has the highest volume of any waterfall on the Northern Edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Be prepared to have your breath taken away from its beauty!

Visit the Linville Falls and enjoy the hiking trails!
