Learning Internet Marketing - the Hard Way

That is exactly what most of us choose. Learning Internet marketing the hard way, and really, it just shouldn't be that complicated.

I don't put myself out as an expert. More a trend watcher, and I've seen plenty of trends come and go. I've seen (been an outside visitor) to the mass email revolution. Those days were fun. Very Wild West'y.

I remember how porn took over the web. Before the extreme proliferation of porn, chat rooms and message boards were the entertainment. Oh NO! I'm not claiming any involvement in adult activities online.

Simply making the point that for the masses, chat rooms were the best the internet had to offer, until...

So marketing, still going on in the background, void of the ability to send millions a day, meant changing focus. Finding the loopholes, the ins and outs, that allowed us to get traffic.

I read book after book. Ebook after ebook. And listen, I laugh today, as ebooks are just PDF's. That's it. They look good. Many have links and a bit of interaction, but there were software programs years ago (and still today, just not really used as much) that made ebooks that would flips and turn and shine and whistle.

LOL! No, seriously, ebooks were not just PDF's with pretty wrapping then. But that too was the problem. There were system conflicts, left and right. So, the standard prevailed. The PDF would become the ebook standard.

And I had plenty. Software too. Bought memberships to online stuff. Downloaded TONS, no GIGABYTES of software onto hard drives still scattered throughout my garage stuff.

Tonight, I saw a picture of Stephen ***, who, back many years ago, created one of the BEST softwares I have ever used. While it worked.

I remembered those days of just buying to find solutions. Hoping against hope that I might find some jewel to help.

I know that pain. Today, things are different. Tools are different. The Mass submitters that we used to use have transformed into mass social submitters.

The social signals of today, didnt exist.

But learning, that happened in the corners of the web. Not so much on the big 'member sites'. With an exception to THIS site. The WF.

It always delivered results. But even here, especially today, it's very easy, possibly easier, to loose your shirt buying things you hope create results.

Of course you can wait on a product, and see how many negative reviews come in. But, as we all know, online marketing PREYS on the emotion of 'needing it now'.

That idea that if I get this now, it will solve my problem whatever that may be. And more often than not, for newbies, that problem is a lack of money.

So, they, as did I, buy and read and test and try. And, for some, and please forgive the rhyme....they cry.

It's hard. There is NO question about it. Learning what to really do, in this sea of 'every opportunity in every niche in the world' is hard.

Years ago, I was told to find my focus. Find what excites and drives me, and use THAT as my muse.

Honestly, it took more than 10 years to really 'get that'. Now, I work from THAT place, and everything I do FEELS good.

Yes, I took the hard road. You likely will too. But know this, learning internet marketing, the hard way, ISN'T required, when you have sites like the Warrior Forum.

    Bravo.

Patience is one of the big keys, and waiting before ordering "yet another lottery ticket" is among the best advice you could give a new person.

If just one person takes that advice, you've saved a lot of grief.

Oh Critter! You KNOW you aren't the only one. In fact, I would imagine back in the day, even Paul made a few errant purchases.

LOL! I am sure TODAY, Allen believes this was a good investment, but back when it was a wild west, and it required RIDICULOUS taming and control, I wonder if he thought this was a great idea...

Seriously, it seems that today, the real issue, and I am discussing this in a new forum over on Facebook, there are TONS of situations where we can loose TONS of money chasing the dream.

I learned, the hard way, that it really does boil down to the steps, the work, and the learning.
