Backlink Building – Overview
This Backlink Building – Overview post is the second in a series that I will be posting here in my Warrior Forum blog highlighting some of the top ways to get free website traffic.
Google measures the overall relevancy of your website based on who is linking to you. It lets them evaluate your website and connect it with a specific niche market. In a way, backlinks are like votes and the more votes your website gets, the higher ranking it will receive.
Search engines determine how relevant your site is both by the number of backlinks pointing to your site and by who is linking to you. You want to build quality links from sites considered to be authority sites, that is, sites that are well established in your niche.
Attention paid to building quality backlinks, although sometimes time consuming, is time well spent. It may be extra work in the beginning, but once you have a base of quality links established and your positioning in the search engines is improving, it gets easier to maintain.
When creating a backlink, if possible you should be sure to use anchor text. The anchor text should be the keywords for the page that the link points to. This will help the page rank for those keywords in the search engines.
One popular method of getting backlinks is through Article Marketing, which I will highlight in a separate blog post.
