Forget the PageRank Algorithm
Apparently, the importance of the Google PageRank algorithm is misunderstood by most Internet Marketers and it is time we simply forgot about it and focused on what really matters: building a people-friendly website with quality content and natural backlinks.
According to people in the know, the publicly displayed PageRank value that so many of us have placed so much importance on for so long isn’t the actual page rank that Google uses in its PageRank algorithm, so we can stop worrying about it.
The example given to support this claim is that when a website with recognized quality adds a new page, that page will have a zero page rank for a period of time. The page may actually be very high quality, but it has no Google PageRank.
If the content on that new page is highly relative to the theme or niche of your website, then it is an ideal page for you to get a backlink on. A backlink from that page will add value to your website.
So, stop worrying about the Google PageRank algorithm, forget about the PageRank of your site and never mind what the PageRank is of the sites you want to get backlinks from.
Here are the recommended criteria for determining if another website has enough value or juice for you to want to get a backlink from it:
1) Does the linking page look good to the average web surfer?
2) Does the page have interesting content?
3) Is the content related to your website?
4) Does it make sense if the web page links to your website?
Of course, there is ONE MORE very important element to getting quality backlinks...and that element is the quality of your own site.
Other website owners will not want to give you a backlink if your site doesn’t meet the same quality standards you are expecting from them.
Focus on creating a site with great content. Make it irresistible to your targeted audience. Give them a reason to visit and return to your site. Give them reasons to tell others about the value you provide. Make it obvious to other website owners that yours is a site that they would feel good about recommending to their visitors.
So, again I say, forget the PageRank algorithm. Focus on what is truly important: creating a quality website.
