Create Backlinks Without Link Schemes

Create Backlinks Without Link Schemes
The way to avoid penalties with the Google search engine is to create backlinks without using link schemes.
I sometimes read the Google Inside Search blog to learn about recent updates and other news. Last week, the blog listed 39 changes and updates made in May. One of the updates mentions “link schemes” and how the search engine algorithms have been tweaked to help detect such schemes in Google’s ongoing effort to improve the search experience for users.
The blog post refers readers to the page in the Webmaster Guidelines where link schemes to avoid are highlighted and a recommended method for getting backlinks is explained.
I wrote about this in greater detail in my own APC blog, Getting Backlinks the Google Way. Here in the Warrior Forum, I will cut to the chase and give you the list of dastardly link schemes to avoid as well as a quick overview of Google’s backlinking recommendation.
Here are the examples of inappropriate link schemes:
– Links intended to manipulate PageRank
– Links to web spammers or bad neighborhoods on the web
– Excessive reciprocal links or excessive link exchanging
– Buying or selling links that pass PageRank
If you employ any of those methods, you’d better be looking over your shoulder because Google will probably eventually come knocking on your virtual door and you may be slapped with a penalty of some sort.
Google Webmaster Guidelines then explains an acceptable method for getting quality backlinks:
First, you create and post unique and relevant content on your website. You want snappy, useful stuff that will “quickly gain popularity in the Internet community.”
Next, you wait for other websites to notice your awesome content and willingly post a link to it on their website for the benefit of their visitors.
Simple. Nothing to it. According to Google.
I agree with the purpose and value of encouraging website owners to post high quality content, and rewarding those who manage to do it. It is all in the name of improving the overall experience for site visitors and search engine users.
But there are only 10 spots on the first page of the Google search engine results pages and it is very challenging for most Internet Marketers to get any of those spots. I can understand why so many turn to link schemes as a possible solution.
Still, if we are going to use Google as part of our marketing strategy, then we will have to try to live within their guidelines and that means taking steps to create backlinks without using risky link schemes of any sort. Are you up to the task?
