The ability to create a website, and have it rank on Google for targeted keywords, is not that hard to do. As long as you are using the proper SEO strategies to accomplish this, you will have no problem achieving top rankings and maintaining them as long as you are conforming with what they are expecting based upon their algorithms. There are three algorithms that Google has created in order to maintain quality websites and blogs that are online and ranked in their system.
However, from time to time, Google decides to change the rules, augmenting these algorithms in certain ways that can cause top rankings of individuals that are following the rules to suddenly lose their positioning. Let's take a look at what Google has done, which algorithm was augmented, and how you can change your strategies to conform to the update and maintain or regain your positions.
