Ok, I have ended up neglecting some of the stuff that was working for me before, to do this "youtube" thing. My idea was to do it well and then help other people learn how to do it. Well, how did that work out?
I haven't reached any of my goals with youtube. Should I give up? Well...not completely, but I am restarting and doing it completely different than I was before. The method I've been using has been horribly low on conversions once users get to my landing page. Incredibly deflating, but I am tweaking a bit (ok, a lot) today to see if I can help myself out and give me courage to keep going down this route. Now, I believe it now when people say they managed to do really well at getting views on youtube but not a lot of conversions. You really have to be more clever to get conversions with youtube traffic. For one, you know that a lot of the views you will get will just be people clicking on the video and then clicking away. Think about it, if you ever surf youtube, you click off a video pretty quick more than half the time, right? I do, I know.
Like anything, you could say that perhaps .5% or 1% will actually click your link, so 1000 views sounds great but that could only equal 10 clicks to your site. To date, my clicks have been almost exactly at 1%, so I can now actually say this from experience. I remember seeing, I think on this forum, where a poster said he had one million youtube views and 76,000 clicks from those videos (if my memory is correct). That's about a 7% clickthrough rate which is great! I need to work towards that but I'm mildly satisfied with where I'm at now on clicks, I just want more conversions from my landing page.
Ok, let's throw all those goals from before out the door, time to revise my plan completely.
My goal? As I won't focus as much time on this now until I see better results, just want to get this to $50/day of EXTRA income by the end of May. Perhaps I'll report back then.
