Passion or Profit or Both?

When looking for a "niche" should you go with something you are passionate about, or something you think you can make more money with?
Odds are, if you go with your passion and knowledge your content will be of high quality.
Go with a money niche and you may be outsourcing your content and getting back average, maybe even good quality. But it will not be excellent quality - the kind of quality needed to get lots of backlinks and high search rankings.
And is it really a "choice?" Or can you find a way to make money in ANY niche?
For example, even if a niche does not have products to sell associated with it, there is a DEMOGRAPHIC of people attracted to your information.
Think broadly. A demographic is not just age and sex. It can be any characteristic. For example, people who have attended a certain university.
Here is an example of a new site I am creating. Tim Tebow.
Sure, there are money making opportunities here. Obvious ones.
But being a diehard Broncos fan trumps the zeal to put advertising first. Instead, having fun and making great content will by itself create profitable side opportunities. Even if it is just Adsense or some other advertising.
This type of website will be a joy to keep up and to generate more content for. Trust me - it will also be a moneymaker - because it will be good.
Do you think I would have interest in keeping up to date a site about a team or player I didn't care about?
Passion can create profits.
