Alternatives to Aweber
Posted 3rd October 2011 at 05:11 PM by kindsvater
There were recent forum threads about AWeber messages being blocked by Yahoo and perhaps also by gmail and hotmail.
In other words - a huge percentage of users emails just got flushed down the toilet - with not a word by AWeber to it's customers.
The issue isn't necessarily AWeber. It is a problem inherent in online autoresponder services.
You are at their mercy for email deliverability. Normally, their selling point is they can improve deliverability through their relationships with Yahoo, etc.
But the opposite is also true. As seen by the forum posts.
Your emails can be blacklisted through no fault of your own.
So the issue isn't looking at an online service alternative to AWeber.
It is, rather, having your own script hosted on your own server that you can use.
If AWeber is blocked, export your contacts, import them into your own script, and send a critical message.
This is also called insurance. Or not having all your eggs in one basket. Having a backup plan.
There are, however, not that many self-hosted scripts. I have tried quite a few over the years.
If you were a member of the Warrior Alliance, then the eCom script still works great as an autoresponder. I still use it today.
There is another AWeber alternative, the Dirt Cheap Autoresponder, I also use.
There are some scripts floating around as part of master resell rights packages. I have yet to find one that works.
The Internet Marketing Center has discontinued their software.
I've tried the expensive Interspire script and was not impressed and no longer use it.
The bottom line is it is your business. Have a backup plan in case your emails stop getting through with your online service.
