About Those Amazon Autopost Plugins ...
Posted 11th February 2013 at 11:45 AM by kindsvater
There are a lot of WordPress plugins where you enter keywords and the script will return Amazon listings containing that keyword in the title.
What is returned is:
1. A copy of the product listing on Amazon, and
2. A link to Amazon.
These days, that lazy affiliate strategy is pretty much dead. I haven't heard of anyone making money this way.
Why?
Two reasons:
1. Duplicate content, and
2. Affiliate links.
When Google sees that your content is identical to what is on Amazon, and you link to that same Amazon content, why in the world would Google rank your site higher than Amazon? (Assuming Google will even show your site at all.)
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is what you need to do:
1. Have unique content on your website, and
2. Eliminate affiliate links.
I can't help you with the unique content part if you are intent on scraping Amazon listings.
But for affiliate links it is critical to your affiliate success that you remove them from Google's attention.
There are two products that can do this:
1. Squeeze Links and
2. Elf Links
Unless you attack both of these issues: unique content and eliminating affiliate links your site is most likely dead in the water. You're wasting your time and not making any money. That is a bad combination.
It is going to take more time and effort than simply installing a plugin, typing in a few keywords, and collecting commissions.
But that is what is required if you want to make money affiliate marketing with Amazon.
