We first noticed the new Google Landscape after a call from a client saying there site had dropped. Intially we thought this was client mistake (checking google.com not .co.uk )
Ran rank tool and saw the results OMG huge drops, then we started to look at our own sites, while our SEO Company Manchester site had infact increased our ebay shop design site had indeed dropped. We had been sat at 2nd for over 8 months.
After looking at both campaigns ( glad I kept notes I noticed that the SEO company campaign had focused mainly on on site SEO adding a fair bit of on site content and then social bookmarking of internal pages which in turn linked back to the front page.
The ebay campaign had been mainly built on ezine articles, as many now know ezine was one of the hardest hit sites and as a knock on effect our site has been hit hard also dropping from 2nd to 12th almost over night. Sales stopped almost the same day and as I write this post we have not had a sale for several days off the net. If this was main source of income I would be a very worried man, Thankfully it is currently just a sideline and so the pressure isnt really on.
So what next ?
Content is King we are now busily filling up the blog with relevant on topic content and gently linking on our key phrases, also hitting social bookmarking a lot more, but are spreading these across site rather than just hitting the front page and then ranking from there.
Any thoughts or comments would be welcomed.
