You first have to convince people that you have something to offer. Do this by supplying content or by being knowledgable. People want to get involved with other people that know what they are doing and who know how to be successful. Be of value that people can see and the will flock to you.
Be a leader and surround yourself with other leaders. Be the support network people are looking for when starting something new.
After you have established value and have made your sales, you can then leverage the fact that you knew what you were doing all along and show people that you have been successful. Success begets success.
