Today I spent some time at Warrior Forum to look something up. And I noticed a thread where an 18 year old Australian guy was searching for a mentor.
The answers he got where partly very helpful and partly full of critics as to the mindset of this young guy. (The thread can be found at http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...OzVZiGE1W7aXAH)

I found this thread very interesting, and I really can understand this young guy from Autralia.
And I thank all those who answered to it. Somehow I got the feeling that some of them found this thread to be on the wrong place and it was wasted time to take this young guy's desire for serious. In their eyes he just wanted to go the lasy and easy way to earn money.
I do not think so. Many other newbies who feel helpless, may learn from this thread. Unfortunately the thread was closed, do not understand why, so I was not able to include a comment.
I thought about opening a new thread and write my comment in there. But when I started writing, I was not sure, if Warrior Forum is the right place for what I have to say.

Please excuse my english. I am writing like I am thinking, and this is probably very German. But I hope you will understand it anyhow.

This is the story of a newbie (I still call myself a newbie, even after three years of learning, trial and error), who decided to invest in a mentor as well. I have been trying for several years now to get my business going. Without any success at all. And just today I made my decision: I will not continue this way, but for sure I will not give up. Let me tell you why:

I was like a bulldog, always my goal in front of me to one day succeed and be able to live from what I earn on Internet. I was aware, that building a business online will take as long as learning a business from scratch offline.
So I learned from webinars, ebooks, videotutorials, trial and error.
Spend all money which I saved for private pension to be able to live on and invest in improving my skills and knowledge to learn as much as I could.
I am not 18 years old, I started with 58 and will be 62 this month.
End of 2009 I finally was that far, that I wanted to start the prelaunch with my first membershipsite in November.
I spent my last pennies for design and copywriting of promotional emails.
I was so sure, that after prelaunch and launch I will be able to get a decent monthly income to go on with investing in my business.

The fact is, I better had invested all the money over the years in a personal coaching than in so many products.

Why is my membershipsite not up yet? Because I stumpled over more difficulties then ever before.
- I had a very good Internetfriend who always helped me, when I had a technical problem or was not sure about this or that. He promised to help me with my first prelaunch and he promised to provide me with the promotion emails for JV Partners and Affiliates within 10 to 14 days. That was 11 weeks ago.
Well to make it short Yesterday I got my money back, but still do not have my mails. I just could not reach this guy anymore for so many weeks.
- And I had difficulties with the membershipscript. None of the scripts I have tried included all what I thought is necessary. So I had find out how to combine it with external programs for the internal missing features.
- I had problems with paypal and the subscription button and paypal just did not answer any questions (today I reached them and found out, that in Germany the subscription-feature does not exist because it is not asked for - was nearly getting a heartattack when I heard that - so this problem is still unsolved),
- Could not get the password to login to a dynamic pricing program (because the email address to retrieve it is wrong),
- Did not succeed with Paylockgenerator programm to be able to get monthly paypalpayments (always got an erro5r message, but no question answered from the program owner)
- The affiliate program of my shop does not work (only the support guys can signup, but none of my test persons including myself, and they cannot find the reason for the error message, and it is not possible to include afiliates manually from within the admin area),
- A downlinbuilder and safelistscript do not work after installation (today I found out, that I can install cgi scripts on my server, but for those two I would need a VPS server and that is too expensive right now for me)
- And last but not least I nearly forgopt that my hosting reseller account is due to renewal in February and I cannot renew it due to the missing expected membershipsite prelaunch earnings (and to be honest do not want to renew due to a lot of server troubles during the last weeks).
So far by now. Let's see what comes next. Perhaps one day I will write a report about the creation of my first membershipsite. But only when I am able to laugh about it and that will be the case, when I got my first recurring income with this site which helps me to continue on my way.

Whatever I did, whatever I tried there all of a sudden was a barrier in front of me. No matter which helpdesk I tried, I am still waiting either for any answer or for a solution of a technical problem.

Fact is, during the last weeks I faced so many difficulties, that I ran totally out of money and still do not have my membershipsite online.
Made a lot of advertising for affiliateprograms in the meantime, hoping that I might sell something there. But no success. I did not get any feedback to my offered christmas present (hoped it might bring some new subscribers) nor to my offered new years gift. I suddenly got the feeling, I do not exist anymore, because nothing worked the way it was planned and should have worked.

And there is he point now, where I desided to take a credit on my creditcard and invest into somebody who can help me findout my mistakes, who is there when I have questions and who will be in personal contact with me and give me a kick when I do wrong.

To be honest, I really had better invested in a mentor or coach then in most of the produts.

With my story told, I did not want to complain I just wanted to show how all for a sudden you do not see any way to continue just by yourself. If everything goes wrong within one short period its about time to find some help.

I just wanted to say, that you can work as much as possible and can try so hard to learn and practice and succeed. Once in a while there is a moment when you reached your limits, when you get stuck, when you turn helpless in a rollercoaster. Then, I think, it is time to give up doing all with your own power, then it is time to look for help.
Sure, there is enough material on my PC and online which could be of help. But I cannot afford any longer to waste time with reading and trying. Now it is time to get help from a very experienced coach, mentor, leader who not only can show the way but also help solving problems on this way, especially technical ones. So someone with a tech person in the back would be fine.

I think Internet Marketing like Affiliate Marketing and Reselling is such a wide area, you cannot know everything about it and handle it the right way. I cannot write emails, salesletters or good articles. This is something to ousource. I am very bad in SEO-Optimization and Keywordreseach. So I need somebody I can show my results and listen to his opinion and learn from. How shall I know, what I am doing wrong, if there is nobody to tell me and to improve me.

Today I got a call from the States from a guy working with J.Cobb offering me to participate in a mentor program. I had the feeling heaven sent this guy to me today. So I will try to find out, what it is all about and if it fits my plans as well, then I will play the big game - all or nothing - for a last trial to succeed. If I then fail again, then I am just too old for this kind of business and my brain does not its job anymore the way it should.

This young guy from Australia just wanted to avoid all those trials and errors and wasted time and wants to reach his goal a quicker way with somebody at his side to lead him and tell him about the to do's and not to do's. And he is looking for somebody who already earns good money and can proof that, thus being able to show him ways that work.
And I think he is right to look for somebody who can accompany him on his way by telling him what to learn, how to learn, what to research, and so on. The work will still be done by the young guy and he was willing to pay the mentor for leading.

I will not say, that all the learning was wasted time for me. In contrary. I am glad I did it and know what is all about and can do so many things myself. But now I do not have the time for just learning, anymore. The need to earn is much much bigger now.
I can take the very last possible credit to live on for 2 months and then are at the same point as now, or I can take it, invest in a mentor and start earning in one or two months myself. Especially when I get a refund, if I will not be on my way after this time period (which I was told). So I think this is the smaller risk and the better chance.

The Warriors showed the Australian guy some ways how to find a mentor. And with whom ever he will talk about it, that person will let him know what he first has to learn before he will get a close mentorship. And this person will recommend the right tools. And that is the help which is needed first. Learn where to start in this jungle of good and bad information. The newbie cannot know the difference of good and bad here. To find that out by trial and error is wasted time and money. There it is smarter to get an adviser at the very beginning.

So I think, they helped him to find his mentor with their critics and advises. And other newbies might read this thread and profit from it as well.
