Evergreen Content
Posted 18th December 2012 at 11:20 PM by Sophetti
I'm finding that there is so much to write about that I'm a little on 'information overload'. What do I write about first? What's not only interesting to me, but what would engage my readers and have them wanting more?
One thing I've learned is that you want to choose topics that are self-renewing. This is called "evergreen content"...information that just never goes out of date. This content really has to stay relevant for months or years, rather than on the short term. Newsworthy events can create a great deal of traffic for that moment; but, they're unlikely to create long-term interest. Ask yourself what you're offering, that is unique to your niche, that will stand the test of time. So, by sharing this type of information, you have published your first bit of evergreen content.

Topics that you post, that are renewing, offer a great value to your audience; but, they can promote organic growth. When your readers find value in your content, they're very likely to share it with others. When your audience shares your content via social networks, search engines (like Google) take notice! Awesome, right? It's this type of quality content that they're trying to find for their very own audience...the searcher.
So...continue to post evergreen content and keep it updated...not just for your audience to read and share, but for the search engines to discover as well.
Have a great day!
