This week confirmed my believe in the importance of backing up data.

Long story short, my computer totally crashed earlier this week and I lost a lot of data. Fortunately, I use an offsite backup service and have finally restored everything. Without this, my business would be crippled.

If you haven't setup a backup hard-drive or utilize and offsite service you're setting yourself up for disaster. For a minimal cost you'll have the protection when something happens....

Computers are amazing, the Internet even more so. I'm a reasonably intelligent person. I know better than to keep all my information only on my computer, and I know to back up my computer on a regular basis. However, it never fails, for it seems that when you take all the right steps, something is bound to get in the way and trip you!

You know that depending on your webhost you might not be able to actually backup your site. It's true. Many webhosts are simply not powerful enough to allow WordPress to back itself up because this involves backing up all the files, dumping the whole database and putting it all into one giant zip file.
