Mad Men will go down in history as one of the greatest shows that highlights the advertisement world.

And we will always have it's copywriting essential lessons with us forever.

    I was wondering who would mention the show. I stuck it out for every episode...because they worked at an ad agency. But, there wasn't a single character that I actually liked.

    And the last scene of the last episode, all I could think was, "Draper! Get back to work! You have the copy instincts of a god, stop wasting it, trying to find yourself"

    But some of the pitches he gave were absolutely brilliant. Phenomenal writing.

      Don't worry, I couldn't get into it either, and I've been a Copywriter for quite some time now.Couldn't get into Breaking Bad either... too depressing. Walking Dead otoh, my 2nd favorite show after GoT.

        I worked at a big ad agency in the '70's and did enjoy some parallels to my career.

        And for someone growing up in the '60's, I can still sing every cigarette jingle even though they last aired in 1968.

        I remember reading about Leo Burnett, whose agency created the Marlboro Man, and the story was he's in a meeting doodling about his feelings of being insecure (like Draper sometimes did), so certainly can relate to the constant paranoia one must have to stay ahead in this biz.

        My fav commercial from the period is when Campbell's Soup allowed Stan Freberg to have Ann Miller dancing on a giant soup can.

        Best of all from the period, were all the commercials for the muscle cars or the umbrella theme for 'see the USA in a Chevrolet.'

    Wow, thanks for the share Jessica. Great infographic made after an even greater show.

    We doubt it that there will ever be a show with such good writing in the history of television. Every line made you stop for a minute and think about it and analyze the situation and the character more deeply. Absolutely stunning!

    I didn't care for the "Soap Opera" aspect of the show. But some of the Copyriting
    moments and sales presentation moments were outstanding.

      Mad Men was like some Hawkeye guy with a precision bazooka fired a volley of fingers smack down my throat.

      On the plus side, cleared my guts of LOST.

    OK. Poll time: Did Don write the ad or not? I say NO. I can't see him going back to McCann, especially when running away gave him the biggest professional and personal revelation of his life.

    yeah it was a good show. gave a lot of insight into american culture and advertising life. i liked the discussion of moral conflicts in advertising as well because we know how powerful ads can be.
