Can you make your copy Sparkle.

" There is strength and force in short words, words that blast and boom, throb and thump, clank and chime, hiss and buzz and zoom. There is grace and charm in short words, too, in words like lill and hush and purr. There are short lush words like dark, muck and drench, and short dry ones like crisp, parch and husk. There are words that work hard at their job, that pry and push, that slash and hack, that cut and clip, that chip and saw. Words that tease the taste, make glad the eye, whet the nose and please the ear. There's nip, twang, bite and tang in short words. They're sweet, sour, or dry, as need be. There are words you can hear like the swish of silk, soft words with a swan's-down, words with a smell like musk, smoke, cheese, mint and rose all of them are good sales tools" by H. Phelp Gates

WOW that stop smoking site is awesome!

I think that kind of site would do well in a certain type of advertising sheme.

On the topic of sparkle.. I have no idea!

  • In my humble opinion sparkle is over-rated. Not that sparkle can't be a good thing--it can. But writing words and putting together a sales process that works is what really counts. I would much rather have someone read something I've written and go "wow, I've got to have that product" than "that was some clever writing."

If you notice the writing, it's not clever. Good writing NEVER draws attention to itself.

The best writing draws you in, creates emotion, makes you dream, laugh, cry, and, yes, desire.

A surgeon can remove an appendix using nothing more than a Swiss Army knife. But the surgery is less painful and the patient more comfortable if the surgeon has access to a complete range of the proper tools.

An extensive vocabulary and a passionate love for words and language are simply tools that give a skilled writer more power to accomplish the purpose of the writing.

The mind thinks in pictures. Words that promote mental imagery are effective, because they communicate with your prospect at an intimate level.

Most of the words Gates used in his narrative do just that. Good list.

Absolutely! Word-pictures are the way to go. In many ways a good copywriter is like a poet. Each word needs to be dead-on, doing double- or even triple-duty.

When the reader can picture himself as happily using the product to solve his problem... it's a home-run.

But you need to be careful that the words you select don't - do NOT - get in the way of the message! Your words need to bypass the reader's conscious and lodge firmly in the subconscious mind where they'll take root.

        Hope this helps,

I once read that there's no such thing as a synonym, and to this day, I think it's one of the most brilliant things I've ever read.
