The Secret Of HostGator.com Marketing

While searching music on YouTube.com I
remembered why I liked "HostGator" as a
Company/brand name. It's not just something
"cute."

The (let's say) "subliminal aspect" is that you're
with a Company that (literally according to their
tag line ...) "Eats up the competition." What
they're doing is subtly communicating that with
HostGator.com you're safe.

And that's pretty much what the YouTube.com ad
expressed, yet ever so subtly.

I agree, They are amazing. "Yahoo" was a great Domain/Brand name because when they started out the "Net" was kind of "A Wild West" meaning that many people weren't familiar with searching (etc.) online.

      "Yahoo!" = Let's search/ride the Net.

Yep. HostGator does some pretty good marketing. It goes to show brand name counts for a lot - though many don't focus on this aspect of creating a name and character as this was more prominent pre-internet age with cartoons and classic branding.
