    Dear Jack,

I think you're discriminating against bad spellers. Besides, spelling skills (or even grammar) wasn't a condition of your OP. You just said the ideal candidate should know what they're doin'.

You ought to reconsider Scott's offer.

I presume that, apart from the obvious portfolio-multiplying advantages, there is also potential for exposure... and perhaps a chance to be hired by The Big Companies?

    PS - I've done John Carleton's course.

Sure thing... do you want one word or two on each page?

This thread is sooo funny, but still begs the question:

How can one offer copywriting services, without proof of accepted work?

In other words, how does one slip past the catch 22 situation?

If one cannot convincingly write an offer to write offers...

      One cannot write offers....

      No catch 22, really.

Tell the prospective client why he should ignore it.

If you do a good job, that's proof.

  • Exactly, Brian If you can't convince someone to hire you without references, based on only your demonstrated skill AT THAT POINT - you probably shouldn't be writing copy anyway

And Jack - I was ready to come in here and give you what for when I saw the ToolTip snippet of this thread LOL. I know you know better than this... I guess I should put my gullible hat away, it has been used against me far too much today!

Hilarious thread. I read it, and wondered if you'd gotten that via email... Then thought to myself, "I think I know that guy." LOL

Especially with the "overwhelming response" only 3 minutes after the OP.
