97 Tips 'or' 101 Tips?

Using numbers, prices etc ending in '7' is good, for the phycological reason etc, so just wondered for tips, have you ever chosen between 97 and 101?

97 Tips works great as it has the 7 in, and there are loads of tips

101 Tips words great as there are 4 more tips than 97, and there are also loads of tips.

Which one do you think has a better sell point, from a copywriting point of view?

I would go with 97 if I was choosing between the two because 101 has been done to death and I think it is ignored. Kind of like banner blindness. Where an off number like 97 may make someone stop and wonder why 97 instead of 101.

            Definitely 101.

Or am I just biased, don't know, but I feel 101 is a lot more powerful even though it is used a lot. But why is it used alot? Because it is a potent number

this comes from somebody who is using 101 in their signature lol.

You have a point though, just because it is used alot, doesnt mean it is uneffective.

Personally I think 101 is more powerful. Perhaps its the number of digits.

Go with anything EXCEPT 101 or 99.

    Why?

In the book Persuasion, Cialdini talks about how an odd number or price can imply that it was "calculated" and deliberate -- rather than randomly chosen.

So 101 means you just filled the book with enough fluff to reach that number. However, 87 or 93 implies that it's probably very complete and well researched.

Roy "Wizard Of Ads" Williams talks extensively about surprising your prospect's brain. In other words, 83 is unusual (so it's interesting)... but 101 is common (and therefore boring).

    Regards,

    Johnny

While I am not an authority on this question I have written a book on Amazon entitled '60 Free & Low Cost Ways To Market Your Online Newsletter or E-Zine'... With that said if I was able to think up 41 more ideas I would have gone with '101'. That is an extra digit and I would personally prefer to buy an a book that has that 3rd digit included as it is a threshold that is broken through...

Have you considered '107'? If you can think up 10 more tips (which may or may not be easy to do) you might be able to enjoy the best of both worlds by having three digits in the number, as well as ending in '7'. Plus, '107' is not a burned out number that is over-used...

    Just my thoughts anyway...
