Ryan Diess is on the hunt for copywriters...

Hey everyone,

Ryan Diess is on the prowl for copywriters. I thought I'd post this and see if anyone was interested.

- Rick Duris

PS: I may be losing my memory, but wasn't it Ryan who said sales letters were dead? Maybe he has some other copywriting in mind. (Just my futile attempt at irony.)

(PPS: Here's the email...)

Hey Guys,

I am currently hiring copywriters. As or business
expands so does our need for good copy.

Our copywriters receive valuable training, a competitive
salary, health insurance benefits and generous bonuses.

To be considered you must have a working knowledge
and preferably work experience as a long form
copywriter either for yourself or someone else.

You must have EXAMPLES to be considered.

We are publishers of information in 6 different niches
and are experiencing amazing growth.

This position can be remote but my preference would
be for someone eventually willing to relocate to
Austin, TX.

We have great offices, a fun environment and room
for growth for the right candidates.

To apply, send EXAMPLES and a quick bio with
contact information to jobs@drivingtraffic.com

P.S. Other positions are open for SEO, PPC Management
Analytics and Split Test Specialist, Videographer and
Project Manager.

PLEASE: Show me your skills, resumes mean NOTHING
to me at this point and will be ignored.

I don't find it ironic at all.

Whether delivered by video, audio, or print ... the ad copy still has to be written.

Thanks for making this info available.

Especially thought Ryan's last comment was interesting:

        Seems a general trend...

Not the death of the SALES LETTER, but the death of the RESUME!

        Regards

He's trying to build a business center where they can easily manage people.

Talking about giving people benefits etc.

For copywriters looking to get started who have some talent, it's a good place to go.

But no one with serious chops will go for it.

              Peace.

                Can't say I agree.

Corporate life doesn't suit me, but it suits some people.

David Babineau has some pretty good copy chops, and he just took an agency job in Denver.

No one knows what Ryan is paying or anything else - so at this stage it's hard to say whether or not he'll get anyone good.

                For all I know he's offering a seven-figure salary.

Some people miss the office... the 9 - 5... the steady paycheck.

I'm not one of them but can see why this would be of interest to some people.

Are you talking about the person the opportunity is with, or the place? Because Austin, Texas is a great place to be...I'm here and so are many other good copywriters and internet marketers.

...which is the goal of many out-of-work Americans, as they are moving here in DROVES from places like California, New York and up north.

It's a respectable offer for the right person, but after being "Self-employed" (I refer to it more as being actively unemployed with compensation) I found it impossible to return to corporate work. I took a job offer a few months back that would cover both project management as well as content production. After shedding my clients, I took a 30 day trial run. At the end of the first month I wanted to off myself.

I respectfully resigned and went back to being actively unemployed with compensation.

Agreed on the resume thing. I've had clients ask for a resume, I politely tell them no - I don't have one. Sometimes I get odd responses, funny looks, or complete silence as they disappear but most understand.

I would think in this market there's probably plenty of skilled people
who would be interested in working with somebody who's actually
walks the walk as well as talks the talk.

I can't say I agree with everything Ryan says but damm the guy
churns out some good products and if he's got a vacancy for good
copywriters I'll bet he's drowning in replies.

Vin M, ain't gonna be knocking on his door any time soon but Ryan's
involved in a lot of niches and they don't need Vin M levels of copywriting
to sell in all of them.
