I'm gearing up to do my first postcard marketing attempt. Anyone know of a source where I can view and copy/mimic some postcard sales copy?

Thanks!,
Amy

I don't know of any FREE postcard swipe files that you can use.
A postcard is a mini sales letter, you are limited with the small space.
    A good formula is:
Great headline (to get the attention)
Big interesting offer (could be worked in the headline)
Couple benefits in a form of bullet points.
Testimonial (short and sweet for credibility) if you can fit it in.
    Call to action.

If you pick up Denny Hatch's book, "Million Dollar Mailings," the whole beginning of the book is successful postcard mailings.

    Amy,

I've written scores of postcards over the years and it is my opinion you are better off NOT trying to mimic other "sales" copy. Here's why:

Let's begin with a PERSON, the one who will be receiving your postcard.
What do you know about them?
Is the postcard to a business or home address?
Is it targeted "rifle" like marketing or is it a shotgun to anyone approach?

What do you want the postcard to do?
    Why are using a postcard?

What ACTION do you want the recipient to take? How easy is it for them to respond?

Is it a full color postcard? Black and White? Regular size? Custom made?

I'm sorry I have so many questions for you, but, the more targeted your mailing is, the better you can conceive what the post card should like.

Trying to fit your unique and personal message into someone else's "template" is, again MY opinion, a big mistake.

Type in "postcard examples" in Google Images to see hundreds of postcards...but, without the results data to back it up, it's only a guess which one worked.

Even then, your product or service might need a customization job.

IF you can post a few more details, we might be able to help you out.

          Hi Amy,

I have in my hot little hands, two postcards
from the year 97 sent by the Dan Kennedy, Jeff Paul partnership.

They used the most putrid colours to get attention.

They have metered post stamps, yet they said to use stick on stamps.

Their business name and street address is on the front.

The name and address are on sticky labels.

I was a paid subscriber and they would always address that
in the pre-headline on the back.

The headline and pre-headline takes up a quarter of the card.

The rest is made up of small print in 2 columns.

The copy is like a mail order display ad,
          with subheadlines, itallics, underlines,
bullets and strong call to action.

The size is 107mm height x 152mm length.

There you have it from the year 97.

It would be interesting to see how that style
would compare to a squeeze page style,
just ask for a phone number instead of an email.

          All the best,
          Ewen
