The Power of an Image

As you probably know, we had a big flood here in Brisbane last week. It was devastating, and very scary. But the community spirit, mateship and our sense of humour made it easier to cope with the effects of the disaster.

Many copywriting books talk about the importance of layout, photos and illustrations in your copy. I thought I'll share with you a photo that someone took during the flood as the Suncorp Stadium was going under water:

KING WALLY. Ready to go under! on Twitpic

Queenslanders are known for their sense of humour, especially in tough times

Definitely a strong image that speaks without words. Yes, humor really helps in challenging situations. Hang tough down there.

    • I could have been worse, but thanks goodness we have clean water - it was a big concern. It stopped raining just before the flood, so the cleaning was easier, too.

Do you know how many people volunteered to help with the cleaning? "around 11,500 wonderful volunteers helped out officially yesterday. Thanks." - from the Brisbane City Council Facebook page.

Images will draw people in to your story for sure. I call this the "Head Kick" effect.
A thumbnail picture of a fighter doing a "head kick" gets 20x the views of just a thumbnail of fighter, fighters, or both in a ring.

Good luck on that Water issue down under, you in our prayers.

let us say I have a Scanned image which has circles and rectangles (saperate not overlapping each other) and I want only rectangles to come on the power point slide at the same locationsas as in the image (as far as possible) and no circles.
