Is anyone selling Ebooks successfully, using honesty?

I know that in some areas, honest information can sell successfully, but how about in selling Ebooks? Can anyone show me honest (zero-hype) copy that is successfully selling Ebooks?

"My e-book has information in it you need to succeed! But, let's face it, your not going to implement any of the strategies in this book, and... probably not even read it, as over 90% of the people who pick up any book never read it past Chapter 2... So, the odds of you actually ever seeing any results are slim to none, and, if by chance you are one of the very few people who actually end up reading the book, and you DO implement some of these ideas, you'll probably give up at the very first sign of resistance, thus wasting any and all of the time or money you've invested in the book.... WHICH IS ONLY $19! Buy now.!"

    No, it doesn't work

Yup, I sell between 400 - 800 ebooks a month on my spiritual website becomingnow.com (which is very poorly written because I pushed it out in less than a week, but people have only given me positive feedback.)

I had sold over 10,000 ecopies of a tennis PDF, but I handed over the ownership rights to another teaching pro would wanted to make a full program out of it at his club.

I just offer information through the articles I post. That's also how people find the sites in the organic listings.

I'm a form believer in the more you give, the more you get.

No, sales letters are NOT necessary to sell pretty decent numbers.

Wow, thanks very much for that info!!! Very interesting to see your site.

How much backlinking or other promotion was done for that site?

      Chris

What you see is what you get... pretty much.

The ebook was originally an exercise for a fictional novel I've been trying to write since I was 11 called The Fantasy Puppet.

I wrote the ebook in a week at a coffeehouse and had an absolute blast... which I attribute as being a major factor in its success.

I built the site on dreamweaver inside a day and started working on articles.

I would use the Google Volume Search Tool to see what keywords I could get ranked on the first page of Google, like "quantum physics ebook" (which was pretty easy since it's a very small niche, but still manages to receive triple digit clicks every month.)

Since the ebook is based on my own experience with energy and possibility, I only added articles as I had kept going deeper into living the philosophy.

I did a few YouTube videos and posted threads on the Powerful Intentions forum, but that's about it.

It's been generating consistent traffic and sales for about 3 years now without much input on my part.

I did try to inspire people to write their own articles about "their Becoming" (and therefore create new organic listing portals onto the website), but nobody has really bitten yet.

Since then I've been working on two follow up ebooks:

Noise: The Self Help Book That's a Victims Worst Nightmare!

        And...

The Law of Attention... which is an idea/ideal I use in Becoming process as well as in marketing/copywriting.

Thanks again!! Amazing to know this can work so well!!!

I'll be converting an existing site of mine today, to use the same approach as yours. It will be interesting to see what happens. I've already done the "give a lot" on that site, with 5 valuable free videos full of genuine good info, and more than 200 posts on the blog there (the first 10 or so posts I created myself as original video posts, then the rest are auto-blogging from FTS, but mostly good quality), plus I manually created over 1000 backlinks for that site, so "giving a lot for free" in itself is obviously not what leads to an Ebook selling, but as I say, I'll follow your approach as best I can, and see what the results are. I'm getting some traffic on that site, so if I can get everything else right, the Ebook will presumably sell. We'll see

I'll also PM you about a JV idea which would align perfectly with one of your future plans

          thanks again,

          Chris

I started writing/selling ebooks on May 31st, just 4 months ago. I have written 3 ebooks. I wrote a paperback before. Each month I have sold twice what I did the month before. This month I may sell 30 copies, that is my goal. I know it's not much. I have been writing articles as a way to get the word out about the ebooks. In addition, I signed up as a guest blogger for two different blogs. (Haven't done it yet. I am waiting my turn.) My topic is on Tutoring in ESL. The blogs are about teaching and tutoring. I also join websites for teachers and post on their forums about my book. It is called Get Them Talking! Guide to ESL Tutoring. (It's on Amazon, B&N and will soon be on Google Books.
I want to sell a lot but I don't really know what to do. I post a lot on teaching websites. I think it is ok but not very effective. I need a better way. Any ideas? (My books are very meaty! Full of practical resources on teaching and since I taught for 25 years, they are written by an experienced teacher.) Any help would be appreciated.

Love your website, poring over it now in detail to see what lessons I can glean from this information.

Thank you very much for posting the link up!

I have sold few copies only like 20 in IM niche with no fluffs or any fake income proofs and sales copy. 20 buyers were my previous buyers so they know about the quality of information i put in my ebook.

i really hates when i got nice informative product but no one cares without fake proofs. but thats what i have learned believe in karma.

Zero-hype does not equal dishonesty. Every commercial on this planet has some kind of hype element in it.

Car commercials are selling you freedom and wind in your hair. Coca cola is selling you good old times etc. Its simply story telling.

Ebooks are just like any other product. You can be honest about it, but you have to tell the story that attracts your prospects. You dont have to lie about results, but you will naturally point out the best achieved results and "brag" about them.

I've purchased a number of 'ebooks' - although better to say info products online. You can easily add a forum to an ebook and rebrand your ebook into a Membership, and thus add perceived value and gouge the price. I've done this successfully, and turned a $17 ebook into a $67 membership.

I actually did think about a membership thing in the past.

I made 20+ audios, some video, worksheets, etc. for people to make the philosphy real in their lives.

But at the end of the day, I enjoy giving as much as I can to the readers and it pays off.

Thank for the idea. But if no-one's buying an Ebook, they probably won't buy anything else either, so I am back to the original question, which is how to sell an Ebook.

I will be trying the honesty approach today, after having heard about the amazing results from another poster on this thread. I'll be interested to see what happens!

        thanks for your comments.
