Psychic Predictions for 2012

Let me explain...

A friend of mine has a girlfriend that's a psychic...she's had some pretty good success...from what I've heard.

At one time, she was a top marketer for Xerox.

She offered me a free reading...and I took her up on it last night.

It was just about everything you imagine when you get a reading...

Now, I'm not the type of person that's crazy about ghosts, witches and warlocks, etc. -- but I thought I'd give it a try.

She has been mentioned in several news outlets..as well as having been a consultant to "the stars".

After she gave me a personal reading, I asked her if I could ask some other questions...about copywriting/marketing...

She agreed.

Here's a transcript (not word for word, but to the best of my memory)

ME: Will there be any breakthroughs in 2012 for copywriters?

HER: With so much uncertainty in the world concerning economies and the rumors of financial collapse...the trend for 2012 will be to focus on the spirituality of people.

So many people are stressed out and concerned about what may happen, that the market will be for those who can offer a spiritual solution to their problems.

ME: What do you see will be the trend in advertising?

HER: Advertising will become more retro.

When times are tough...and tough times are coming...people tend to fall back on memories of better times.

ME: There's a lot of talk about video sales letters...what do you see about the future of them?

HER: Around February of 2012, a new concept will be offered that will change the way everyone looks at video sales letters...

Just thought the whole thing was interesting.

Wow, back already? We've missed you.

Edit: And now that I've actually read your post, pretty interesting stuff.

Well, I'm not judging or anything... but there's a fortune-telling technique known as ambiguity (aka cold reading). I've been reading up on it because cold reading seems like an awfully powerful method to build rapport and connections with the reader of your copy.
(Watch a Derren Brown-ed video of it in use on youtube)

No doubt, I do actually think more people are moving towards self improvement niches in the New Age. I've been seeing a lot of increased interest in niches like hypnosis and meditation lately haha.

How very...odd. A psychic prediction on the future of video sales letters?? Never seen anything like that before, nor would I have thought to ask. So to your Kreskin friend, I'd ask for more specifics. Saying advertising will become more retro is ambiguous: if *any* field or topic in advertising goes retro (whatever that means), she's right. Thanks for an eyebrow-raising post!

    I love this one.

Sometime during the first quarter of 2012, a new concept will be offered.

"Revolutionary" products tend to be released early in the year. That's an established pattern you can see yourself if you look back just a year or two.

Your "psychic" seems to have a solid grasp on trends and some real insight into human psychology, but all of her predictions are... bluntly speaking... what most experts are already predicting. There's a lot of drive toward spirituality (including ethics) lately, and a lot of interest in older methods and getting "back to the roots" of things. These patterns really do happen in tough economic times, and we are indeed having tough economic times (albeit an artificial toughness).

It's definitely insightful and your psychic is definitely smart. But powers from beyond? Hardly.

I, for one, hope it will be the discovery of infomercials and that moving pictures existed before the animated GIF.

However, I fear it will be The Psychic Video Salesletter master course launch. On 32 DVDs. $197 for the course. And $497 for the index so you can find what you're looking for on 96 hours of boring filler done in a monotone.

Being cynical is better than being psychic. You are right more often. You can be both specific and accurate. And when you're wrong, it comes as a pleasant surprise.

October 28th 2011 is the last day of the short-count Mayan calendar. The Long Count ends on Dec 21 2012. They were true "masters of time" and documented cycles of consciousness. Conscious evolutions corresponds of course to physical activity, as above so below.

My prediction, which is really just an observation and projection of changing mental and spiritual seasons, is the a gradual movement towards unity consciousness.

People will have a greater understanding of their thoughts/actions and how they relate to the whole. Thus messages which reinforce and products/services around this 'cloud' will have greater impact as they will be a true reflection of the times and metal attitude of the times.

I don't see "steam punk" or retro taking off any more than any other goth/punk counter-culture movement does.

You know for some reason, when I read that through I kept thinking:

I put no stock in psychics whatsoever.

Don't mean to burst bubbles... but come on. Doesn't it seem just a bit silly?

About 4 months ago my girlfriend went to see a psychic... and he told her all about me and how we'd have a little girl in the next 5 years together... and some other ****...

    We broke up.

    Psychological Predictions for 2012

Either the psychic's predictions are wrong and this falls off as just another one of those silly psychic readings. And they are silly.

1 or 2 of these predictions are correct in which case any of 2 things may happen:

    1. We all remember this post and a few who eavesdrop on it now think Max has the golden ticket. The answer. The probabilistic prediction. Man he's good.

    2. Everyone forgets where they heard it from but they go, "Hey. . . I remember someone saying this." and it makes a stronger impact in our minds. I wonder who would benefit most by sitting on the far end of this with a little bait.

I'm not sure if it was the OP's intention to do so, but this demonstrates the potential use of up to 3 fundamental psychological processes.

    1. Priming - mention it now, it's more likly to come up later (in our heads, of course)
    2. Misattribution I - It happened, Max was right!
    3. Misattribution II - I can't remember where this came from, but I swear it's true.

All of which can be used to an advantage.

No one should put stock in psychics. Trust the data. If someone is going to make reputable predictions, I better see numbers and/or graphs -- not a lady with a ball.

    Eric

P.S. I like how psychic is visually a cross breed between physics and psychology. Makes it feel like it actually does something.

P.P.S. Again, not saying this was Max's intention. Merely stating how it could be used. Otherwise I guess it's just a fun, silly exercise.

I believe in mediums, not psychics. A blessed few have paranormal abilities and those that do tend to help people/detectives with their natural gifts. A random woman--despite whatever rank she rose to while working for Xerox--pretending to have any sort of psychic ability is just sort of sick. Especially when she makes blanket statements as transparent as that whole astrology scam I always heard about growing up. I still don't know what my "sign is" despite various heathens and whores telling it to me over the years. Cancer or Pisces, maybe.

    Ha.... I liked that

But what I'm really starting to pay attention to is Max's thanking habits...

Mal pokes Max with a stick.

Max thanks Mal for the poke.

    ... like Kevin Bacon:

Right... and fairies and unicorns are real, too.

Magician James Randi has a standing offer for all the so-called "psychics" in the world:

"Prove what you do is real, and I'll give you a million dollars."

No one has EVER claimed the prize.

I might have forgot to mention that I too am psychic...

    Wait for it....

    Wait for it....

... in the first quarter of 2012 a man will ask his wife if she wants to buy a new car. She will say no... he will buy it anyway. The wife will poison the husband...

Oh yeah and there some revolutions in the industry and Obama (insert adjective).

Watch James Randi expose so-called "psychics" in this clip...

Note: Just for fun, during his presentation, Randi takes a FATAL dose of sleeping pills (to make the point that fraud and quackery abound).

actually the end of the world is 20120, so we really have a ways to go.

I started dowsing about 60 years ago. This is where you ask Yes/No questions and the pendulum gives an answer. As I gained experience and confident my accuracy climbed above 85%.

I learned this from my grandfather who could find water with a willow branch. By the way, he had 100% accuracy and was used by many people when drilling a new well. He didn't charge for his talent.

Henry Ford stated, "Whether you believe you can or believe you can't. You are correct."

True psychics don't advertize, they don't ask questions and most don't charge. They simple state whatever they see or feel.

I have several friends who channel and are very accurate. They use their talent to help the world. Most are on a spiritual path of growth.

The true road to happiness and be content is through a spiritual path. But a spiritual path doesn't have to be religious. We all are souls living a physical experience and have a connection to the Source of the universe and can use this connection to see or feel things most of us don't.

It puzzles me how the religious right fight abortion and are the first people that want to go to war.

Trying to follow a spiritual path, I am against killing for any reason, but I feel what you do, that doesn't effect another, is none of my business.

Back to whether there are true physics...

It's simple. There are for believers and there aren't for non-believer.

Either way, no psychic or channel is 100% accurate. We still have free will with the power to change the future.
