Sorry, this offer is closed as of today Dec. 15, 2011

Would you like to test your chops? And MAYBE even get paid for it?

I'm selling a product. It is a digital product, sells for 97 dollars.

We have four promotions in force. IF you want to see what you come up with, I'll let you write something, stick it in the rotation (if it isn't solid hype)... I will test it first at a couple of reliable sites to see if it gets looked at and give you feedback.

If it actually sells, we'll go from there.

I've rec'd some inquiries, a couple pretty strong in their powers...let's see.

Yes, I keep metrics. You'll know if your copy works because you'll get paid, immediately, because we'll set this up as if you were an affiliate.

One person thought that was "cheesy" and cheap. OK hotshot, imagine if Sir Gary Halbert rec'd 50% of gross sales on his promotions, why he may have died a millionaire.

If you think 50% of gross sales is cheap...go away young boy and find a job.

It is a digital product, currently listed in 3 digital marketplaces, we just started mailing to lists, and are JV ing with people whose list number into the hundreds of thousands. We'll split your copy into that list once it has sold even one product.

AND if your copy sells anything...you get half...like being an affiliate.

One of our pieces is converting. Your copy will be mailed to an equal proportion of the list as other copy cubs. We'll track it for you.

You can see one of the versions in my sig file.

PM me or email gjabiz@yahoo.com

If selected you'll get a copy of the product and the target audience.

Be creative and test yourself and get paid IF you can write copy that converts, simple as that.

I've added some details to the post based on comments and feedback from PM and email.

Let me thank you for your interest, some pretty ballsy young people here...which is great.

I'm offering a newbie copywriter a chance to earn while you build your reputation.

I've been challenged on the 50% ... which makes me chuckle.

I'm amazed at some of you wanting to be called copywriters without producing any evidence you can while challenging me about the possibility of getting screwed out of all the sales you make. HA!

If your copy makes any sales or does well, you'll make enough to be able to afford a website and advertise yourself and even have a testimonial while you banked some coin...

Love you young punks, this forum gives me more entertainment than any TV ever could.

So, for real people, this is a chance to test yourself and get paid if you are as good as you think you are, OK?

    gjabiz

PS. Again, ONE of the versions we are testing is in my sig file, and we ask that you swipe very little from it or from the other promotions you'll see...we're looking for creative not tweaking.

      A note to copywriting newbies:

I would have welcomed an opportunity like this four years ago. However, before jumping in, it would be good if you asked these two questions (I don't know the answer to either)...

      1. Is there a pre-exisiting demand for the product?
      2. Is sufficient targeted traffic in place or planned?

Is there a pre-existing demand for the product?

Is there a pre-existing demand for Entrepreneur Magazine, or Money Making Opportunities, both on the newstand after decades?

The manual is on starting a home based, low cost business, and it is about Cleaning Headlights on cars. Is there a demand for this service? Let's see what these copywriters come up with.

It is already selling. It is new. Only reader testimonials at this time, but those who have purchased the manual are supported. As soon as I get feedback from those who DO the business, we'll have user testimonials too.

Is sufficient targeted traffic in place or planned?

We have email agreements with several people whose lists number into the tens of thousands.

Again, it is a money making opportunity, a low start up business with potential and I assert, the market for Biz-Op exists, it is an ongoing and insatiable market and the demand for all money making opportunities grow during recessionary times, oh, I see we broke all Black Friday sales records, I stand corrected with us being in a recessionary time.

It doesn't hurt to be careful on the Internet INDEED. I appreciate Due Diligence and although I've been around a long time, I realize that many, if not most Warriors don't know anything about me, so no big deal as to the credibility issue. Those that do know me, also know their opinions of me are none of my business.

I've done this several times over the years, have yet to discover any new Halberts, but Warrior Ken Strong produced some nice copy for me a couple of years ago, but the timing was wrong for the product (cause I sold it off).

Other than Ken, I haven't considered hiring anyone who's writing was supposed to blow my socks off, but, I'm still open and of course, I would give Ken Strong a thumbs up on his copy, hopefully he will beat his cancer and when he returns to writing, by all means hire HIM.

I want to see you succeed, become the control, and we both make money, and you get a juicy testimonial.

I take no offense and with the possibility of seeming like an asshole, I take no offense from someone questioning me and/or even "slamming" me as I likewise accept no praise either...

they (criticism and praise) are water to this old Duck...it just rolls off my back.

Be glad to answer any further questions. There is NO deadline, copy will be tested in the order it is rec'd, fair enough?

I hope there is someone who can knock it out of the park....cause I benefit and they benefit too. Win Win is my game.

What I have to say most of the time is probably not what you want to hear. Then again, I'm not trying to make a buck off of you either.

        Hi all,

Time for me to pipe in here.

If you and Gordon decided to collaborate together, you'd be working with someone who is:

        1. Trustworthy. Trust is the #1 ingredient of successful ventures like this. Both trust in execution and trust in compensation.

        2. A legend in direct marketing. There's A TON you can learn from Gordon. Partnering with him should be considered a privilege, not just an opportunity.

Really... what do you have to lose? Go ahead, put down the books for a while and put your skills to the test. You'll have someone in your corner who wants you to hit it out of the park just as much as you do. (Sorry for the mixed metaphor. )

Gordon has been in this business for donkeys years. He knows the business inside out and has a stellar reputation. It might be better for you or others of a similar ilk to do some research first to ascertain the facts for yourselves.

This is a brilliant opportunity for you newbie copywriters. I'd jump in on this instantly if you think you're all as good as some of your posts boast.

If I was a newbie, I'd be all over over this opportunity in the blink of an eye.

Good luck to all of you trying your hand at this. I hope it goes well for each one of you.

There's no need to direct this kind of vitriol towards me. I have accused him of nothing. I was not being sarcastic with my response in this thread - our PM exchanges have been nothing but cordial. I have never challenged his morals or ethics. Personally, I think his offer of 50% is extremely generous. I call him mister out of respect. I don't call just anyone that.

That being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong me or my "ilk" with wanting to iron out details. There is nothing wrong with being careful and getting all your facts straight before committing to a business relationship.

Are you seriously trying to imply that it would be wrong for fledgling copywriters to be careful on the internet? That we are in the wrong to ask for clarification regarding metrics and payment? That we are somehow wrong to ask questions?

    Yea I needed to SHOUT.

First thanks to those participating. Anyone who wants to can submit copy.

Just a few things. Please submit in html. Normally pdf would be ok, I have Acrobat and can use...but so far over 20 people are working on copy and I just don't have the time to do anything other than read.

So use html and format it exactly how you want it to be seen in IE browsers.

As of this post, I've rec'd two pieces of copy, one I thought was good and I told the copywriter that, along with it doesn't matter what I like or don't, she'll get tested beginning this afternoon. I am not the judge or jury, the MARKET is.

I am not coaching. You get the same info as everyone else.

If it looks OK, I'll test it. If it is a piece of excrement, like the other copy I rec'd, I am going to be BRUTAL. Be prepared.

I'm NOT going to critique your copy. But if I feel you made a best attempt, I'll include remarks in my rejection letter, but dont count on it. I expect to get your BEST effort, not the fastest, quickest or thrown together.

I'm only TWO into this and it's 50% One I like but again my opinion means nothing...the other piece made me go drink a Dos Equis (and I'm not much of a drinker) in the hopes that if I became a more interesting person, then maybe I could find a reason to be interested in this crap piece of copy...it cost me perhaps as many as 2 million brain cells, gone forever.

LOOK, copy is serious business. Good copy with a good product makes money.

    Your copy represents YOU.

Submit it as you want it to be seen. I'm not going to touch it. I am not giving feedback. I am not coaching you.

And I am going to be totally fkn BRUTAL on any piece of copy that displays a total lack of respect for my time and my market's time.

So, hopefully, this will help you or eliminate you right now.

I look forward to reading at least 50% of the rest of the copy coming in...but for the other 50...I'll buy a case of Dos Equis this afternoon.

    Good luck.

    gjabiz

PS. If your copy has more than 5 I's in the opening, I guarantee your copy won't get tested.

Also, no need to send links to past copy efforts, nor to add attachments to your email or PM, I won't read them. Quite frankly and honestly, I don't care what you DID, I want to see what you can DO. Fair Enough?

We have to close down this offer. IF you have contacted me, you have until Saturday Dec. 17 to submit your copy. If you have not already contacted me, I'm sorry, but this offer is now closed.

I admit I was surprised, in fact, overwhelmed.

We got 29 pieces of copy from Warriors. We are testing 3, two now in the rotation and one more to be inserted in late Jan.

Overall, I was UNDERWHELMED and AMAZED at how sloppy and poorly written the vast majority of the copy was.

A couple of people have asked if they could post it here to get feedback...I don't have a problem with it, other than it being really awful.

Honestly, not everything is a WSO.

And honeslty, OPINIONS don't matter much on copy in force, it is the market which will decide what is...and what isn't working.

HOWEVER, I, AND MY CLIENT, get to decide what is, to us, not a fit.

And it is I, who get to tell you it was terrible.

IF that was your best effort, then please...give American Idol a shot, OK.

That being said, we found some pretty good writers. NOT copy writers, but some good writers who need just a little bit of study and some continuous effort and you'll breakthrough...

      Just keep at it.

We are testing 3 people, which is pretty good and we hope to have some control results from the 5 pieces of copy now being rotated.

I know some of you took the rejection hard...because you thought you had written something great. It wasn't great. It wasn't even good.

But, that is just one guy's opinion.

I don't know what to say, really, I'm speechless.

So, I'll try to offer up something positive.

I wrote what I thought was the problem...CONFUSION...

And I see where it comes from...a lot from here...with

      97 this
      101 that
      14 triggers
      35 power words
      42 headlines

      etc. etc. etc.

I see how you, the new to copy writer, can get confused.

So, sit down and write a two page letter to your uncle, aunt, cousin, ma or pa even and tell them why you are writing, what you have they might be interested in, etc. etc. TWO PAGES...

This exercise will help you to get clarity and become succinct in your thinking.

MOST of the copy was boring, droning on and on and had so much irrlevancy to the sale, it became burdensome when I saw another piece in my mail

I was elated with about 5 people, 3 we are testing, two writers who just need to get some sales experience.

I promise, so as not to break any more hearts or spirits, I'll never do this again.

But I DO appreciate your time and effort you made, albeit, not very good ones for the most part.

I wish I had more and better advice for you, but, your determination will be the primary factor to take you to whatever sucess in writing you are seeking, copy or otherwise.

      Best of success to you.

      gjabiz
