Can Newbies Sell Products?

Does a person who has never written sales copy before
have much chance of selling a product online?

I have been thinking about creating a product, but
I can't afford to hire a copywriter. Do you think
a newbie like me could have any success selling an
online product?

    Yes.

    Anyone can sell.

I've seen newbies outsell the veterans because they aren't so cynical about the marketing process.

Nothing beats raw passion and enthusiasm to make a living online, especially if you're pimping out your own product or service.

There are unlimited possibilities available to anyone willing to take audacious action.

Likewise, if you play the online marketing game and reveal little or no success from your efforts, you're the problem.

Fix the way you think before you change the way you market.

Cause when you change how you think, you'll open up to possibilities for writing copy or marketing that were staring at you in the face the whole time... you were just too blind to see.

    Lastly...

Always look at hiring a copywriter as an investment.

    It's never a COST.

Because your intention for hiring a copywriter is to experience a MASSIVE return on your INVESTMENT.

That's why you always look for the best...

    ...Not bargain basement nonsense.

    You have to think rich...

And make, calculated, rich-thinking decisions to really make an impact these days.

    Mark

P.S. Never compare yourself, your product or your service to anyone else's shizzle. That drains you of your creativity. Always and ONLY focus upon what makes you, your product or service awesome... and always be willing to let go of limiting beliefs about how much money you can make. Remember, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE when you market online... In other words, you're only limited by your own damn mind.

P.P.S. You can teach yourself anything you need to know to become successful. I don't often mention it, but I'm a 4th grade drop out. I was raised by a hippie mom who let me school myself and I absolutely HAD to make it on my own... because nobody was gonna hire a seemingly uneducated kid. Sometimes when you have to become successful, you just figure it out.

"Stay thirsty my friends..." What beer commercial is that?

Wait, what do you mean 'if you reveal little or no success from your efforts, you're the problem?'

Does that mean that if you don't succeed, you're the problem, or if you do succeed and don't tell anyone about it, then you're the problem?

Precisely this! Sometimes acting just naturally makes the deal go through. I, myself dislike, when I'm presented with single page web-site, which is an obvious infestation of Copywriting frenzy, so much CAPS LOCK, !!! marks, bold text and red color, which makes your eyes sore.

      Cheers.

You definitely don't need money to make money, nor do you need a copywriter to succeed. However, you do need to pick up some basic copywriting skills if you wish to succeed in an online business, because in the IM world, you'll have to know how to sell with your words.

I suggest going through the top marketing products and see how they write their sales content. Model their methods and work your way up to success. Good luck!

Here´s a big mistake a lot of newbies (and veterans) do:

They create a product THEY THINK a lot of people really need and want to spend their money on... and not a product that people actually DO need and are willing to pay you for.

    The difference is huge.

Btw, what market are you planing to dive in to?

Weight loss. Is there a need? Is the market big enough? (lol)

The weight loss market is HUGE and FULL of B.S.

I've made a lot of money in this market and I can tell you without a doubt that zeroing in to the most specific niche you can is essential.

You've got to have something that's really different and can add a new dimension to this highly cynical market.

There is a need and yup, the market is massive.

But as someone else said, you need to narrow your focus and choose a (profitable) submarket.

Let me explain: As probably know, the weight loss market consists of hundreds (if not thousands) of submarkets. And in all these submarkets, the intensity of the desire to lose weight vary enormously... and...

Some people are willing to pay twice as much money (or more) on a weight loss product than other.

For example: Compare the desire of women to lose weight to look better... with the desire of an obese person to lose weight in order to keep himself (or herself) alive.

The obese person don´t want to lose weight... he needs to do it to survive. And he knows it.

Can you see how much more money he is willing to pay for a weight loss product, compared to the women just looking for the next "miracle diet"?

Anyway. Just some food for thought.

I hope you found it useful.

    James,

If you're going to be writing your own copy, please study up on some of the books that are recommended in the sticky at the top of this forum. Studying those books is how a lot of copywriters begin. If you've got those down, you've got as much or more than some of the copywriters in here already. Understand your target, understand what they want and you'll be ahead.

    Sure:

    know who you're talking to

    write the way they speak

read what you write aloud to make sure it sounds right (people subvocalise when they read)

and always use AIDA (attention, interest, desire, action) to structure your message.

If you do these 4 things (especially knowing who you're writing for) you'll be ahead of 97% of the jokers out there
