#1 - #4 all fit into the "So what?" category... they contain no benefit to the reader.

Headline Writing Secrets, Secret 4-Minute Headline Writing System, and 4 Minute Headline Writing Formula are features.

At least there's hope for #5: "Put Your Customers in a Buying Trance" is a benefit. But I'd tighten it up some and make it pithier:

    "The 4-Minute Headline Formula
That Puts Your Customers In A Buying Trance!"

Some might argue that your suggestion is a headline rather than a book title, but I appreciate your feedback. Many thanks

#4 gets to the point because people do not have time to waste, and 4 minutes seems like a short period of time.

Thanks Rich Jerk - This title was inspired by the best seller "4 Hour Work Week" and, as you point out, it seems to get straight to the major benefit. Thanks for your feedback

The rules for writing headlines don't quite apply to book titles if you are selling books where people go to look for books, which means Amazon.

When people search for books they type in the subject. People are imperfect searchers, so you need a keyword dense title if you want to be found. The challenge is in making them all fit and still seem somewhat natural.

David Garfinklel did a good job in titling his book Advertising Headlines That Make You Rich: Create Winning Ads, Web Pages, Sales Letters and More.

His sales ranks show he moving a few units per day of a six year old book, which is better than most.

      Hi Pusateri

Agreed - the keyword-rich headline is a tactic I use for Amazon/Kindle but this will be for a much more specifically targeted market. Thanks for your feedback

Title 4 is "economical", and combines curiosity with benefit. I like it.

Of course, you're absolutely right but if one can't ask for objective feedback and constructive criticism from one's peers then what can one do? The only alternative is to go straight to split testing, right?

Some relevant questions come to mind when reading your post, which could have an effect on the title wording:

Who is the target audience for this book? Copywriters? Business owners? Professional writers? Beginners? Anyone that needs a headline?

How and where will this book be marketed?

Will it be a physical book, or an e-book?

Target audience, sales approach, popular search keywords, marketplace - there are a lot of factors that could be considered in determining the "best" title.

Without further details about the product, target audience, and marketing approaches, these would just be guesses. However, if you'd still like some assistance in developing an effective title, feel free to contact me privately with further details.

    PsychoProfits,

I might have a rather unconventional take on this, but I like to
use phenomena as part of the book title, and then an
appropriate sub-headline which talks explains a little more about
    the phenomenon.

For example, taking examples from the current featured Amazon
    bestsellers:

    - The Positive Dog
    - The Leadership Challenge
    - Gamestorming
    - StrengthsFinder
    - Outliers
    - Getting to Yes
    - Good to Great
    - The Advantage
    - Predictably Irrational

One very common trait is that these titles all have very short
book titles, and they show off curiosity-piquing phenomena.

Once your reader's eye has caught the book title, you then dive
in with a powerful sub-headline, like:

    - Negotiating Argument Without Giving In

You could experiment with that and all. Copywriting for sales
copy might have some similarities with book title selections, but
I wouldn't say they are completely the same.

I don't have too wide of an experience in that, so I can't
be qualified to choose any of your titles.

But I do, and have tested, that your book's cover design is
very crucial - it can multiply your sales by 300%!

I guess the saying says it all:

"Don't judge the book by its cover..."

    And we all still do.

      Hi Winston

I used exactly the same technique for two of my published books "Fortune Cookie" (How to make a fortune online) and "Pre Cursor" (How to set up an internet business). However, this specific title will be for a WSO e-book/course.

      Thanks

I'm a fan of "The 4 Minute Headline Writing Formula" but think it needs a minor tweak.

I can see you went for a similar angle as The Ultimate Salesletter, but it doesn't quite come off right. Doesn't roll off the tongue.

How about just "The 4 Minute Headline Formula: "The Secrets of Copywriting Millionaires"?
