Ok first off thank you for even click on this thread.
secondly I want to say I'm just a musician but I have
been around for a minute. Learn this and that but
never really got around to learning how to write
GREAT COPY !!

So in other words I need help with my copy for a
membership site im starting for all my fans.

In a nutshell when they sign up they will get

A single every month, artwork, lyric book, behind the
scene videos, Discounts on merchandise , and much more.

My thing is my crowd is mostly the younger ones from 16 to 25
They not going to read a long sales letter

I do know that much .

So my question is this. How would I go about writing this ? I'm more than willing to do video's but I still need to learn how to write copy !

As a musician you realize it takes time to develop your skills, talents, stuff that makes you, you. Writing copy is like that too. The best advice I could offer is to look at successful musicians who appeal to the same or similar people as you and notice what they're doing. Then do it that way only with your brand, what makes you special. Good luck.

Yes i do realize that . I been working on my craft everyday since I was ten. And i'm still working on it. I know my style of music and I know what makes me different from the other artist .

I have already done work with the Major Record Labels , I done recorded/engineered orchestra's and more.

It's a learning process but i'm still more than willing to learn. I was looking at some of these copywriters prices

and boy do they make you want to try yourself first lol

Also no other musicians are offering a membership site as mines. In this industry when it comes down to online marketing the majors are the ones who is still behind.

I still have yet to see One major artist using a simple squeeze page. They let those contacts go to waste . This much I am certain !!

Pick up some of the books from the sticky:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/copywrit...ooks-ever.html

Good ones for beginners include Dan Kennedy's Ultimate Sales Letter, Joe Sugarman's The Adweek Copywriting Handbook, and Cashvertising by Drew Eric Whitman.

I highly recommend you do what you do best ( being a musician) and delegate the rest (hire a pro. copywriter to do your membership site).

    Good luck.

  • Hi Mindz,

Your fans will want you to "write" like you speak.

You won't need the worlds greatest copywriters - at $25,000 plus royalties.

By all means read a couple of copywriting books.

Just write what you want to say - get a friend to check it for spelling and any really shocking grammar (don't worry about being 100% correct it'll probably help to make a few mistakes).

    And just be you.

    That's what your people want.

And that's what will make them buy.

  • ...now be careful I didn't say I knew what I was saying.

But yes, get in the studio and talk to your fans.

Have anybody asked for a membership/fan site, merchandise, artwork and all the other stuff?

If so, start by saying "Hey, you've asked me to do this - so here it is...

lol oh im not about to go crazy. that's for sure !
But its ironic you said that.

I was just talking to someone about my intro video i did on my website.
And they was making fun of how i said my artist name and music .

They thought my accent was cute . A lady told me that . So im taking into
consideration what you said though !

Yes . I have people waiting on me to release new products as we speak !

I just want to set up sometype of residual income off of all this .

I know this my niche because of my passion for it so why not go with my passion first . but i have people waiting to make purchases and I have a mailing list as well.

Note it maybe a lil cold due to me not emailing them in a few months !

  • Say you're sorry for not contacting them - give a reason (you were busy writing new tracks, recording, doing gigs or whatever) but now you'll make it up to them...

    And...

    Keep in touch with them.

    Don't lose them.

I would personally try to social proof the hell out of your website.

After that, I would start talking to bigger names in your industry. Go to their shows, call them, stalk them, do whatever it takes to get an interview.

Then repeat that process again if possible. Get those interviews on your site. Get yourself in pictures and videos with these people. This would blow up your social proof.

Social proof has always been huge in the music industry (thats just my opinion).

Another thing you can do that I've seen work is blend 2 styles of music that have never been mixed before. Make it a killer track and upload it onto all social media. I saw a guy do this before and it changed his entire life. He wouldn't have the recognition he has now w/out that video. So it can literally be one thing that pushes you to the top.

You always need to be innovating new ideas, focus on things that can benefit you the most. I know you're creative because you wouldn't be a musician if you weren't.

Here is one last thing. Try to actually stick around this forum and not forget about it. If you actually take the time to learn a bit about marketing & copywriting, you will have a huge advantage over a lot of musicians.

I just can't tell you how many bands/musicians I've seen who have marketed themselves terribly. From the products/cds to the packaging to the branding so many musicians seem to screw up these things.

Become a marketing madman as you continue to develop your musical skills, and nothing will stop you.

    G/luck! - Red
