This study shows writers are prone to mental illness:

You Feeling Okay? Study Shows Writers Prone to Mental Illness - FishbowlLA

Don't worry, Scribe. There's an upside:

"There is a silver lining to consider — mental illness may in fact be helpful to the creative process. From BBC News:
Lead researcher Dr Simon Kyaga said the findings suggested disorders should be viewed in a new light and that certain traits might be beneficial or desirable.

For example, the restrictive and intense interests of someone with autism and the manic drive of a person with bipolar disorder might provide the necessary focus and determination for genius and creativity.

Similarly, the disordered thoughts associated with schizophrenia might spark the all-important originality element of a masterpiece."

    Who you callin' a cracka?!

Interesting post.. I've also read studies done on the creativity of people who are either unipolar or bipolar. An excerpt:

"Many people with bipolar disorder may feel powerful emotions during both depressive and manic phases, potentially aiding in creativity.[20] Because (hypo)mania decreases social inhibition, performers are often daring and bold. As a consequence, creators commonly exhibit characteristics often associated with mental illness. The frequency and intensity of these symptoms appear to vary according to the magnitude and domain of creative achievement. At the same time, these symptoms are not equivalent to the full-blown psychopathology of a clinical manic episode which, by definition, entails significant impairment."

    It's true.

I'm actually on medication for a problem with my head.

    I kid you not.

    At least that confirms something...

    I really am a writer.
